The lyrics sound to me like someone who is suffering with panic attacks and depression and the changes one goes though with these illnesses.

I think Brad wrote Changes because either he or someone he knows has been through a lot in life and it has changed his personality and molded him into a different person. He has been through lots of changes in life and it has made him who he is today.
