30 Seconds To Mars: Closer to the Edge Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Closer to the Edge Lyrics
I lost myself, is it better not said
I'm closer to the edge
It was a thousand to one and a million to two
Time to go down in flames and I'm taking you
Closer to the edge
[Chorus:]
No I'm not...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:I think songs like this can be perceived on so many different situational levels whether it be greed, addiction, selfish, personal gain sort of stuff... With that said... Some people going through their late teens to late twenties (like myself) will use their strong ambition for what they want and destroy hearts, step on whoever, and only think about #1 to get what we want and all the while not feeling any emotions about who we have hurt ("I dont remember what I try to forget")... UNTIL... The day we finally realize that it wasn't worth it and we start to regret what we did... BUT WAIT... Thats what got us to where we are today ("I'm not sayin I'm sorry")... We do not regret the past, we use it to better ourselves and we are now empowered and enlightened by this realization of what is good and the way things should be... We dont close the door on the past ("One day we may meet again")... But we will NOT walk through that door to the past ("NO NO NO")

3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:I think that this song is about finding hope and finding faith. You might be expecting a curve ball but you get fast ball- you only have so long to think about what to do, how to hit it. This song, I believe, sends that message to all of us. Expecting something that may not happen is one of the worst things you can do in life. Be prepared, life's coming!

I believe he is talking about the Veganism cult. He saying "there was never a time I remember trying to forget."
He's saying he won't forget the dieing animals. If he forgot anything in his 'mental fog'he didn't try to do so.
He lost himself in the cult, he asks if he shouldn't say he's a vegan because talking about veganism is a form of publicizing. Also he says he's "closer to the edge"
He won't apologize for his moral ethical reasoning for joining the cult. But "one day maybe we'll meet again?" Vegans believe that veganism is their'ultimate'to lead them to the promised land, because they believe they are the kindest, most selfless creatures, in their humble opinion. Then he says "No, No, No, No!"
He changes his mind. He wouldn't wish his mental illness on another.
"I will never forget, I will never regret. I will live my life!"
He's saying. Who cares if they're wrong? To them it seems right. They claim "if God be against them for what they believe in, then God must be wrong."
He says "The moment to live, and the moment to die. The moment of truth and the moment of lies."
He saying we have but a moment to live, it seems as soon as we are alive we begin to digress towards death.
There's a moment of truth in their moment of lies.
"A moment to fight, a moment to fight, a moment to fight"
Pretty self explanatory. He will fight to his very death for the cause he supports. He says "we" will fight, because he is not the only supporter of this movement. -
Relating to drugs,a time in not only his life where alot of doubt in making a big step forward for his lifes dream come true. Not wanting to be in that place again, however maybe we will meet again I can relate to myself as during those times have met that touched his soul and has missed. I always wondered why he ends song list with Closer to The Edge. And if you listen to his songs ..a mythical story to modern day in calling the love always yearned to receive..it's very romantic in every way ...

I think it means that nothing so hardliner can exist int the world. that what ever your going though you will get thought. I am a cristan so i believe in God so for me it helps me see the good and helps me though a ruff bay at school. It gives me hope and faith. It sounds so wounder full when you tern it up all loud and put headphones you can hear the true meaning.
It shows me I am not alone. -

I think its about not wanting to relive your past, but not closing the door completely, because your past makes your future.

I agree with the comments that express hope and finding faith in all that life has to bring us. It is about living every moment despite our mistakes and regrets as well as despite the curve balls like cancer that may come your way. Watch the video below set to "Closer to the Edge" and it will say it all....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQzSXz_dEKM

Well, I'm not an expert at interpretations. In my mind, I think about my ex. This song, word for word tells me something like the times I messed up (This never ending story take forward pride in fate We all fall short of glory Lost in ourselves) And I feel the song tells me never to give up on him, and not to listen to what anyone tries to make me say (No, no, no, no). It's too early to give up, and I'm not doing it anytime soon (because:I'm not saying I'm sorry, one day maybe we'll meet again). Then there's the part that says: "I will never forget I will never regret I will live my life". This part inspires me most. I will never forget the memories. I will never regret the stuff I did, (good and bad, life is too short for regrets), and I'll just have to move on and live my life.
-
Well for me.this song is CONTRADICT TO god. Because it says there that we all FALL SHORT OF GLORY.. AND HE SAID THAT HE WILL NEVER SAY SORRY...SUSPECIOUS....

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
i would say it's talking about how music can speak through you and also about faith hope. look at the video were the people are talking :D
-
This song is about life. Live it to the fullest with no regrets. Never Forget, Never Regret, Live Life. Make your life the best that it can be.

everyone has moments when they don't feel themself. They try to be someone else. They try to forget they're experiences cos they'd rather not hurt. This song is about living life with no regrets, and learning from your experiences, cos each of them made you who you are.
-
To me I think this song has something to do with God, I'm not exactly sure what the point is that it is trying to get across, but it says "we all fall short of glory" && we do all fall short of glory, I think this song is talking about changing your life and living for God && living by faith and hope, and not turning back to your old ways of living
