37mm Lyrics

Bring your secrets to me,
Just give me your hands,
And I'll let you feel the wounds.
They put in me.

If you believe in me,
How can I be dissolving?
If you'd believe me,
I'd tell you everything.

Do you fall too?
(everytime that...

Ok, AFI is not part of the Antichrist. For one, Davey went to catholic school until 8th grade. Also, they make no reference about being God. That's just ridiculous. And sometimes, the person that writes the lyrics, knows what they want the songs to be about. Davey does say that he doesn't make many religious references. Well, he knows what the songs he writes are about. I hate it when people read my lyrics and are all like trying to tell me what it's about. I know what it's about because I wrote it. And the whole 666 thing, that could be for many reasons. Many interviews I've read, Davey said it was his Grandmom's birthday, so that was like a present. That whole end of AFI thing is ridiculous, too. They're not going to end any time soon. It's just completely insane. And yes, that's just your opinion, but this is mine. A lot of it is accurate. Just look more into the band before you interpret one of their songs.

Ok. For starters, I don't get why everyone thinks this has to be about Jesus. Maybe not everyone, some people were saying how it was about a relationship. However, you have to take it in another person's perspective. I think that this song is about trust and betrayal. The trust is someone gave whoever they're talking about their secrets. Because they kept those secrets, they were hurt and tortured. Then, the other person betrayed because they never believed in the first person, so it was like they were dissolving, gently fading away from the other person. Then they're saying, if you would just believe in me like I believed in you, I'd tell you everything. Then, the chorus is literally talking about life and the obstacles. Do you fall too? is saying that they are slowly dissoling, and slipping away from the world, or falling. So, are you also suffering like I have, or do you want it to just go away by falling into me. Then the second verse is like press me to your lips and I'll suck the poison out, who will heal me. This is saying how, this person will do whatever it takes to help, poison being a symbol for something terrible. But since the other person doesn't believe in them, they won't heal them. So, that again is the betrayal. Then, I feel that silver and cold comes into relation with the next part. In silver and cold, they were saying your sins into me. So, through the course of time, they want the sins of the other person to go into them, but if the other person is sloly killing them, or letting them fade away, then how can their sins keep going into them. How can the other person be safe without them? Time time time, we're not waiting, time time time, we're no one. This is saying how everything takes time, but sometimes it's not worth waiting for. Kinda referring to the betrayal. We're no one is saying how they're not important enough to have to wait for time. Ok, I know this isn't really right, I mean it's how I feel, but I really don't think every AFI song is about Jesus. and that's what a lot of the interpretations are saying. That's just how I feel, though. And I hope you guys read my At A Glance interpretation. I didn't know how to get the lyrics there, though. So I just wrote them in my interpretation.

Wow. you know what...the anonymous one...that really intrigued me. I mean...I think that whoever you got that from was really in depth about it and I loved that. I thnk he forgot about someone though, Mary Magdalene. She would wait in his tomb and everything until he was resurrected. I mean that's my opinion. I'm not religious or anything, but I do research cause I wanna know more. But that...wow..was really impressive.

I agree with whoever said it was about two people breaking up and then the person (possibly davey) is talking to someone about it. It could also be a succession to silver and cold, just that I think silver and cold is about two people breaking up after a rocky relationship.

To me, it sounds like the story of Jesus Christ (If you keep killing me how can I keep absolving your sins into me?), because Jesus was the only known man who forgive for sin.

okay, I did not think of this, but this is an interpretation of 37mm by tRyXRyz, on songmeanings.com. It's just that I felt like nobody understood it in depth as this person does, but it's just a theory...

"No matter what Davey says to magazines, AFI lyrics have Christian references. In fact, due to the references throughout decemberunderground, it is my opinion that in this album, the character(whether it be Davey, or winter, or whatever... or it could be just one character of many in the album) makes the false claim that he is God. but in doing so shows that he is megalomaniacal and can be compared to the Antichrist (because the antichrist claims to be God). This antichrist reference is apparent in the rabbits in the shape of three sixes on the cover and the release date of the album(666). Miss Murder provide aa great deal of evidence for this, as many people have already interpreted that a megalomaniacal individual who eventually kills himself is at the topic of the song (whether that be Hitler, Jesus, Cobain, or symbolically Davey ending AFI). Further evidence for the Antichrist theory can be seen in the album title (hiding from the birth of Jesus), almost all of Sing the Sorrow (the love that Jesus preaches is replaced with sadness and hate, especially in Miseria Cantare), the fall theme throughout their music, etc. The whole CD also plays somewhat like the musical "Jesus Christ, Superstar" in that this megalomaniacal individual finds that the only way he will become immortal is through his death, which he plays off as a murder but is actually a suicide. The end of AFI is also hinted at throughout this album (Miss Murder, The Missing Frame and it's breakdown, and Endlessly, She Said) and their age makes it believable.

the songs before this have hinted of the fate of the character, and symbolically of Davey and the band. prelude 12/21 is basically a prelude to the end of the year, the end of time (Mayan reference), the end of AFI. In kill caustic, davey questions if the music is all that he has left, but he knows it will have to end soon, so he knows the detatchment will be violent, hence the title of the song. In miss murder, as I have stated, the character, who could represent many people, asks if he must kill himself (or the music) to preserve his legacy (beauty). Summer shudder shows davey's fears that when his fans leave decemberunderground and AFI is invisible and the fire inside has burnt away, their lives will look less important and so small. In the interview, the massively popular character (davey) tells the interviewer the truth... He will lose his name, his dreams of eternal grandeur will fall through, and he tells the fans to calm down and not cry. finally, the character realizes the way that his end can still be epic, and it is through suicide, through decemberunderground, through bringing the fans to take part in the sorrow of decemberunderground, and through becoming a god in this place. In love like winter, he also revives this lover he spoke of earlier... either miss murder or perhaps the interviewer, or if not one of those then someone he meets in decemberunderground who has fled from the same world he has. The first line of affliction gives another hitler reference, reigniting the notion of the character as someone who will take his life in order to try to make himself immortal. The song shows that the character is undergoing affliction (the thorny sticks behind the lyrics can wrap into a crown of thorns) but the affliction is inflicted by himself through bleeding wrists, not through others as he attempts to suggest. In the missing frame, the character is almost in davey's exact situation, as he sees the sanctity and legitamacy of his band is being threatened by his media hype. no one in the band cares, none of the media cares that they are destroying this artist, but his music will inevitably falter and he will die along with it. kiss and control is a night out on the town in hollywood with all the stars, who give you ecstacy and drugs to watch the city lights, but they are really spiraling you toward a quick death which you will forever be glorified through (we all want to die like movie stars, we'll burn like stars, watch the stars turn you to nothing, etc.). In the killing lights, davey realizes that these celebrities, these camera bulbs are killing him, and he knows he is dying through the magazines (they never forget a face when they cut you up). which brings us to 37mm...

the scenario: in 37mm, the deranged and conceded character is spiraling down into the suicide he will inevitably inflict. The cameras (hence a 37mm camera) literally become guns (so the interpretation of a 37mm as a gun is correct as well) as the media encircles davey, who feels his music will suffer with this attention (paper airplanes also tells of Davey's worry that selling out will destroy him). He speaks to a fan, or perhaps a lover, who tries to convert, who he tries to make believe in him. His words show that he claims and/or believes that he is Jesus Christ.

Bring your secrets to me. (You can confide in me. Here in Decemberunderground, I am your everything.) Just give me your hand and I'll let you feel the wounds they put in me (Direct reference to Jesus placing Doubting Thomas' hands on his wounds. This makes the fan/lover believe that he is real, he is a god, but these wounds are self-inflicted). If you believe in me how can I be dissolving (he knows that through his fans he will live on, just as Jesus has never died for 2000 years)? If you'd believe me I'd tell you everything (I'll tell you the meaning of life [sorrow as opposed to Jesus' love]). Do you fall too? (Question from God, making the fan/lover acknowledge their faith in him) Yes, I fall. (affirmation, oath) Do you want to fall into me? (Also shows that they both arew confused and through this confusion they will only continue to fall together in decemberunderground) Every time that I try to pacify I fall (I think this is a drug reference, especially the word pacify leads me to believe this). Silence can you hear me? (Davey is the music, and he will cure the death of silence, but soon his suicide will make his music live on, for his fans believed in him) Press me to your lips and I'll suck the poison out (the drug previously mentioned must be silence, which makes sense because they would've destroyed Davey's voice). Who will heal me (Davey cannot be healed because he thought by killing himself he took sin away from his followers, but he is forever physically dead)? If you keep killing me how can I keep absolving? Your sins into me, begin the poisoning. (He asks the paradoxical question that how can a death cure death? Is this sacrifice true? Is he really a god? If not, how can he take their sins away?) Time, we're not waiting. Time, we're no one. (Time will take away fame, making them no one. No one will wait or be around later, and he will be dead)."

    Yeah... pretty thought out.

This song is not about love or prostitutes. This song is about something almost none of you would understand.Without making it to obvious I'll tell you 37mm represents 37 million people. These people know something most of you could not understand, something so crazy sounding that no adult would believe, if told by their child. So if you believe you are lucky.

Uh... Yudorka, I think you're thinking about The Killing Lights
*But it's a beautiful song, about two people breaking up possibly or someone trying to make someone feel better.

This song is about the character in decemberunderground..considering himself as a god..which makes him a megalomaniac or an antichrist(antichrist called himself god also) the line give me your hands and ill let you feel the wounds they put in me...Hes comparing himself to jesus when jesus let thomas feel his wounds and then ppl believed in jesus..but the characters wounds are self-inflicted...the character feels that he can preserve his legacy by taking his life (also from miss murder: May beauty stay if I take my life...beauty is his legacy)...37mm is cameras and guns..his fame is killing him..and he will ultimately end his life...Do you fall too...god asked this question to see if the follower is loyal..the character asks this to his followers..and they reply yes I fall..do you want to fall into me..signifies their both confused..and their confusion will bring them on a fall through decemberunderground forever. The part where he goes time were not waiting time were no one..means that time destroys fame..time takes away everything so the character questions if he is truely a god..how can he cure a death with a death....................i know I made this a little confusion but the whole decemberunderground cd follows this story-line...ultimately..signifying the end of Afi itself..

    I think it's about jesus
" bring your secrets to me- just give me your hands and ill let you feel the wounds..They put in me"- like what they did to jesus when they crucified him..

And the rest kinda relates to jesus talking to us aswell..
I wouldnt usually give a biblical interpretation but in this case I actually think it kinda is =]

This song is about afi telling the lives of prostitutes that live on the streets. It's the first thing that comes to mind in the part that goes

I believe that davey is telling this story from jesus' point of view. (just give me your hands and i’ll let you feel the wounds they put in me.) jesus said this to thomas after jesus' resurrection. And how all people fall and make mistakes but god will always be around to catch you.
