I had anorexia and listening to this song helped me because it boosted my confidence and made me feel like I mattered, no matter who you are what your problem is "you are beautiful just the way you are".

It means you have to accept your beauty on the inside an outside. Your beautiful no matter what you look like or who you are. its how you were made so why don't you accept it and don't listen to all those people doubting you or putting you down cause of your looks.so just accept who you are and what you have cause you only live once.

I get it. I understand the meaning behind the song. What I DON'T understand is the incomprehesible Scars 'to' your beautiful. You're beautiful is a common phrase.
Your beautiful makes no sense. "Scars" to your beautiful makes even less.

i have scars all over different parts of my body & am constantly judged for them by my own family. i also have anorexic tendencies. when Alessia came out with this song it helped me through a lot. i was on the edge and she carried me back. these words are truly inspiring.

I struggle with self harm, as all stated in song, as a teen but you can't let flaws bring you down. My ex boyfriend hated me for it but this song came along at that time and really helped. Whenever my girlfriend sees me down she plays this. It really helps. Alessia, thank you. To all the girls or boys out there who feel that way, Alessia and me along with others give you our love and support. GET BETTER! WE LOVE YOU! And any scars on your body show the battles you've gone through and came out alive.

Everyone feels like they aren't worth it sometimes. This song tells how some girls feel they need to starve themselves to be skinny (for beauty), cover up their faces with loads of makeup (for beauty), and show off their bodies to feel good (and guess what? for beauty!)
