All Time Low: Kids In The Dark Meaning
Kids In The Dark Lyrics
here we are at the end of the road
a road that's quietly caving in (caving in)
come too far to pretend that we don't
we don't miss where we started
but looking back I see a setting sun
and watch my shadow fade...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think this song is talking about the kids who have depression. It talks about being left alone, because people dont believe you have depression. 'Beautiful scars on critical veins' is talking about self harming. I have scars on veins. I have been left alone, and I am the kid in the dark. Some people don't understand, so instead of attempting at understanding. I am left alone.

A lot of you guys are saying it’s about people with depression. As someone who suffered from severe depression, I see your point, but it’s not what I think it means.
There’s a Sefer (Jewish book), called Kinot. It’s depressing stories that should make you feel remorseful. One of the Kinot (Kina 23, I believe), has always reminded me of this song.
The Kina goes as follows:
Two neighbors both have Jewish, young, slaves. One day, a neighbor is bragging to the other about how beautiful their slave is. The other one starts bragging about how handsome their slave is. They decide to make them have sex, so the could have the most beautiful children, and sell the child for a fortune.
The boy and the girl are forced into a dark room, and told they would not be allowed out until they had done it.
Both children spent all night crying in their own corners of the room, scared, and ashamed for the act that they couldn’t admit.
When the sun rose, some light came through a small window, allowing them to see each other. The recognized each other as siblings, and ran into each other’s arms, crying, relieved, and upset, scared, and worried.
They died in each other’s arms right the then and there.
These were the kids in the dark. We read this Kina, and think of it as such a shame. -
This is not really a song as much as it is a calling out to all children. The kids in the video set the theme. The depression is on the outside of the party. The happiness and joy of the world is in the party. There's a line in the song that mentions critacal scars on critacal veins. That refers to self harm in everything. It is important that you fight and keep fighting. Only then will evil be at Bay but never quite destroyed...

Kids In The Dark song, it's a really emotional song. To the kid who made a post, hope you get the right person who can help you. It's really sad that some kids experience being in trouble and who get hurt. Please ask help okay. God Bless you kid.

This song makes me think of kids like me who have trouble in life and every time they get help it only makes things worse for them also reminds me of when kids like me don't always don't always get the right help and they only get hurt. This song tells so many diffrent stories and many peoples stories bind to the song.

The video and lyrics described it all.
A young girl who is sad because her parents are fighting and doesn't care about her.
She went out and had fun with kids like her and when she went home she smiled to her parents. She will be strong and not be affected with their arguments.
For the kid who commented below, sorry to hear that you are depressed and left alone. Be open to others so they can understand you. Who knows you'll find an understanding friend who you can trust and be open with. Talk to your parents or siblings or elder relatives. Talk to your guidance counselor. Pray if you believe in God. Self-harming is not a solution to your depression. Hiding in the dark will continue to make you depressed. Appreciate life and the people who are in your life. Life is to be lived. Live one day at a time. Be strong and true.

I feel as if in this song, All Time Low is saying, no matter where you've been and no matter where you'll go, you never have to surrender to society. They're saying conformity is pointless and that no matter who you are, you can make it wherever your dreams take you. They're saying that you choose what happens in your life.

This song could have two meanings the first one could be that when life gets you down theres not much point in worrying over it because it will get better no matter what and when you think life cant get any worse then that means that it can only get better therefore the lyric " here we are at the end of the road " when your at the end of the road theres nothing left there you cant carry on theres nothing there for you to carry on, the other meaning could be a relationship that there isnt much point fighting for any more " here we are at the end of the road, a road that's quietly caving in " if the relationship isnt working out how they both want it to then its going to cave in because if its not working then there isnt much point in fighting for it.
