Lullabies Lyrics
It could be for the last time and it's not right.
"Don't let yourself get in over your head", he said.
alone and far from home we'll find you...
Dead- like a candle you burned out;

#1 top rated interpretation:Ok, fucking stop it.
First off: his name was not Daniel
Second: he didn't kill himself!
Third: just listening to the song shows how painful it is for Alex and his family! Why the fuck do you need to get involved!
Fourth: if you are going to involve yourself at least get the FACTS and stop ruining THOMAS gaskarths image!
Fifth: none of you give a shit but, This is such a traumatic thing for Alex, his family and close friends to go through, and hear y'all are acting like it's no big deal, calling Tom an attention seeker, saying he was riddled with jealous - your all fucked up. Let Alex live his life without seeing all these lies about his brother EVERYWHERE!! It's NONE. OF. YOUR. FUCKING. BUISINESS.
Sorry, it had to be said -

#2 top rated interpretation:Lullabies isn't actually about Alex Gaskarth's brother committing suicide.. His half-brother, Tom actually died in his sleep.
"Tom Gaskarth was my brother. Tom Gaskarth did not commit suicide. Just like you all had his name wrong, you also have other facts wrong. Tom didn't take his own life, it just drifted away from him as he slept. I'm sure the majority of people don't mean to be hurtful and have just interpreted the lyrics wrongly, but it's not nice to see his memory being trashed all over the internet."- Alex Gaskarth -

#3 top rated interpretation:Lullabies is about Alex Gaskarth's brother, Tom (NOT Daniel) dying in his sleep. Apparently he and Alex had a fight before he died about Alex getting more attention, thus leaving Tom feeling deprived of deserved attention. This is probably why the lyrics read "I'm so sorry". Either this, or he feels it is his own fault.
Alex explained that his brother is in fact named Tom, not Daniel, and that he did die in his sleep. Not commit suicide.
Much love Alex <3 -
Lullabies is about Thomas Gaskarth. His name was not Daniel in any way shape or form. He did not die by commuting suicide though he did have a problem with alcohol abuse and Alex said himself tom died in his sleep. This was a very painful thing for all of them and people trashing Toms name and saying he was an attention seeker is fucking disgraceful. Tom meant a lot to Alex and anyone who trashes his name not knowing the facts can go to he'll. That would be like accusing Alex of a crime and having no evidence. You shouldn't and can't do it.

I personally feel like it's nobody's business but Alex's, his family's and their close friends. We have NO right to be poking and prodding our noses where they don't belong. It's obviously hard for people to talk about what happened so why don't we just stop desecrating Thomas Gaskarth's image and leave it at that shall we?
-
This song may or may not have anything to do with Alex's brother. And if it is, what happened to his brother is none of our goddamn business! It is a privet matter between Alex and HIS family. Not Alex, his family and the ENTIRE FAN BASE. I think we should just leave it alone because i'm sure every time he see's
"Alex's brother committed suicide."
or
"Alex's brother died." all the time (especially if one of them isn't true) is going to hurt a lot more then people can comprehend. We need to leave it alone. Us as a fan base have no right to trash his memory like that. I know we all mean well but we just have to stop.
And we all have to stop believing everything we read. -
I have just read an upsetting comment on this site about Alex's brother, Tom, being an attention seeker. I feel like I have to disagree with this as alcoholism isnt something you can control and to say something like that and then claiming to be in love with Alex seriously bugs me. How can you love him yet dismiss his brother in such a cruel way? And in case anyone was wondering, Tom did not commit suicide. he had difficulties with drink ( As i have stated above) and left America to go back to England, his home country. One night he drifted to sleep and never woke up. the word "suicide wasnt directly mentioned in the song but from the lyric interpratations I understand how that idea could have occoured.

Tom Gaskarth died in his sleep when he was 21 and his half brother Alex Gaskarth, the lead singer of All Time Low, was 12. ALEX IS NOT YOUR "ONE TRUE LOVE" IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THIS STORY'S TRUTH AND YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE USING "LOL" IN THE INTERPRETATION. PLEASE. EDUCATE YOURSELF. that is the end of my rant. *tries to bow but trips awkwardly, bursts into flames and teleports to Warped Tour*

Ok, first of all, his name was THOMAS GASKARTH, I don't know where everyone is getting Daniel, but... and he DID NOT commit suicide, as Alex has said himself. I'm going to interpret the whole situation as Tom getting annoyed because Alex seemingly got all the attention ("Scream to be heard, like you needed anymore attention"), which made Alex feel guilty ("I miss you,I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry") and Tom therefore developed an alchohol problem (throw the bottle, break the door, and disappear"). I guess finally he had enough and left the US (maybe that's what Alex means by "Alone, and far from home") because the US was Alex's home, and Tom then passed in his sleep. It;s clear the song is full of emotion, changing from mourning and sadness to anger at how it affected his family, and guilty because he felt like part of it was his fault, and that there might have been something more he could have done, to show that he didn't need to do anything to be heard, that he wasm't overlooked, or any less important. But I think the lyrics do a good enough job explaining his emotions. It just breaks my heart to think of all that Alex Gaskarth has gone through, but yet how strong he had to be to get through it.

You're all wrong. Alex admitted that tom never killed himself. He died in his sleep.
-
Umm you guys are stupid. it was not alex's fault. He was 12 and his brother TOM was 21. but yes this song is about Tom and yes it makes me cry.
-
His brother was called Tom. Alex said that he DID NOT commit suicide. He died in his sleep.
-
HIS NAME WAS TOM. THEREFORE, ALEX HAS T.E.G. AND A ROSE TATTOOED ON HIS HAND.
Tom committed suicide at the age of 21, and Alex was 12. It was very hard on Alex and he wrote this song for Tom...
Rest In Peace Tom Gaskarth. -
This song is about alex's brother dying. They were very close and when alex was young his brother developed a serious alcohol problem. When his brother moved back to England his problem spiraled out of controll and he died. When alex found out he was distraught. Alex was 12 and his brother was 21.
It is the most beautiful song I have ever heard and Alex is the most amazing role model ever! -
First off, his name wasn't Daniel. It was Thomas. Thom had a bad drinking problem. He did commit suicide and it killed Alex.
The song expresses two sides of what happens. The first side is the love and loss that he feels saying "ill miss you I'm so sorry."
The second is the anger he had because the whole family was effected by it. -
Alex's brother did not commit suicide. He died at home, in the house he shared with his friends, in his sleep. Not "alone and far from home"... I think he must mean far from the USA, which is Alex's home. Not his brother's.
Sounds to me like this song is as much about what happened when his brother left the USA and came to live back in England. Which was easily at least a year before he died.
You also need to allow for artistic licence and not take everything so literally. -
