Back to Black Lyrics
Kept his dick wet
With his same old safe bet
Me and my head high
And my tears dry
Get on without my guy
You went back to what you knew
So far removed from all that we went through
And I tread a troubled...

Back to Black is allussion of this kind of mood...translated from Russian:
ROMAN ELEGIES: XII Bend down, I want wisper something to your ear: I am grateful to you for everything; for chicken soft tendons, for stridor of scissors that already cutting for me the emptiness, since it is - Yours.
It doesnt matter that its black.
It doest matter that no arm, no face, no his oval in it.
The more thing invisible, the more its certain, that it existed in this world, and the more its - everywhere.
You were first to whom it happened, right?
Only something can hang nailed, that cant break down to the ground in two.
I was to Rome.
Was perfused with radience.
The way the broken piece can only dream about!
On my retina there is - golden dime.
Just enough for all the darkness time.
Joseph Brodskiy, Roman Elegies XII

I have read these interpretations and they are awful. #1 - the reference to "life is like a pipe" is meaning that you need something to put into the pipe to smoke otherwise the pipe is worthless...She is saying that in life you need love otherwise it's worthless #2 - her rolling up into a penny inside is like resin in a pipe that is stuck inside and useless - she is trapped #3 - she is the "other girl" - hence died 100 times (he left her many times for other woman), and her brilliant play on lyrics "With his same old safe bet"...followed by "me" with a rest - "me" being her - she is the same old safe bet because she always goes back to him. Lastly #4 - ekilpatrick - "dick wet" just means having sex...a vagina is wet dude...so that line just means he breaks up with her and then comes right back to her for sex...see #3...

I feel for Blake, they were kindred spirits. They would have blamed him if he was still around.

Back to black is about being used up. They use together even though they prefer different drugs; him blow and her the pipe. "All we went through" has pushed him past his tolerence and fear has driven him back to his previous more stable "safe" lover. "Dick still wet" is symbolic of their desperate habits drowning him and in desperation he surfaces and bolts. "Back to black," unlike him she actually found a twisted security and stability in their relationship. The very relationship that would destroy him if he stayed in it, would destroy her if he left. Her love for him was in itself its own addiction providing some discration from her from hard core drug addiction.

"Back to Black" is a song that is clearly about a lover leaving. The lyrics indicate that he left her for a girlfriend that he had previously left or that he was still seeing while seeing her and refused to leave behind.
"We only said goodbye with words" shows that she now sees that their physical relationship meant more to her than to him.
I love you much
It's not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside
She sees that she can love him as much as she is able but they still have differences that are enough to make his "other love" more appealing to him.
Since he's gone, she feels like she has no purpose in life. Going "Back to Black" is a term she is using to indicate that she's dead inside and invisible to the world without him around.
