Amy Winehouse: Wake Up Alone Meaning
Wake Up Alone Lyrics
I'm staying busy
Tied up enough so I don't have to where is he
Got so sick of cryin so just lately
When I catch myself I do a 180
I stay up clean the house
Least I'm not drinkin
Run around just so I don't have to...

Obviously a song about her struggle with heroin addiction. She’s “...ok in the day...”filling her days with anything and everything to take her mind off of the ever worsening withdrawal symptoms that are building up through the day, but it’s “...as the sun sets.” and there’s nothing to take her mind off of the withdrawals “...seizing my guts...” “...blood running cold...” she gives in. She then describes the heroin high In the chorus ,a feeling so hard to put into words that it explains the almost nonsensical Lyrics she uses. Then as is the problem with heroin addiction you “...wake up alone.”
-
Blake left her for his ex. In order to stop herself from thinking about him, she would keep herself busy in the day, and attempt to avoid drinking. However, when the night came, she would dream about him and their passionate nights together. But, unfortunately, when she would wake up, she would be alone and realise those passions were just a dream and were no longer a reality.

'He' is heroin.
This is a song about her addiction and love for Heroin.
She tries to put it from her mind, but at night she succumbs to another hit. -
Waking up alone after a night of passion and love that is unrequited. She feels so strongly about him and needs to keep herself busy during the days to distract her mind from what he is probably doing.
If he does come over, he gives her everything she wants, but always wakes up alone, leaving her empty.
