   i agree that this song is applicable for past lovers that did not end well as they wanted to be. could also be both partier who tried to deny their real feelings for each other because they could not end with each other for the reason that they were not really meant to each other because they are in a complicated situation and might as well keep their feelings untold.

   for me, its about two people who fell in love with each other while the other is in a relationsdhip..they tried to deny their true feelings to each other to make things right but the feelings just get stronger every time..and both of them are hoping that someday they will have the chance to be together as a couple..something that they are forbidden to do at this stage..

   I think this is about a relationship that never really worked out even though they thought they were meant to be. And they gave each other all of their love and effort but as happy as they made each other, they just weren't right for each other. And in the end they're going to wonder why they gave up on something that could of been great.
