    i think that imagine is about longing for a relationship that will most likely never happen. like, you're in denial because you want it so bad. the song also suggests that the current relationship between the two parties is tumultuous, leaving one side wanting something more desirable and picture perfect.

    i feel as if it’s about a longing relationship that someone desires very much and it sadly came to an end hence the multiple repetition of “can you imagine that?” explaining it never really happened in reality. it’s all in their imagination.
