Everything we had would last
So young and naive for me to think
She was from your past
Silly of me to dream of
One day having your kids
Love is so blind

A guy who treated her badly and broke her heart after she did everything for him. So she decides that all she ever has and the only person she can trust is herself.

This song is definitely about the ending of a relationship. She got her heart broken by a guy who cheated on her. She was too blind to see through his faults and she didn't listen to any advice people were trying to warn her. Now, she knows she can do bad all by herself.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think it's about A guy who treated her badly and broke her heart after she did everything for him (Not Jay Z). So she decides that all she ever has and the only person she can trust is herself.

I think it's about her man before jay. She dated a guy from 13 to 17 ithink and he broke her heart, she spoke about him in a interview with tyra banks. So she was in love with this but all the pain has made her stronger and she did say she got some good songs from him.
