Billy Talent: Saint Veronika Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Saint Veronika Lyrics
The day her mother lost her sleeping pills
She was sick and tired of being invisible
Hard to see in color when you're miserable
Veronika, Saint Veronika
You can't leave this world behind
So be...
-
I think is a song about the novel/movie Veronika Decides to Die. It has alot of simularities to it.
"They found an empty bottle on her windowsill"
This when Veronika tried to kill herself with drugs and they found her on the floor.
"Always said her life was never meant to be
Stuck here living someone else's dream"
This is a summary of her suicide note.
"And the damage done is irreversible"
"Now she clings to life inside a hospital" This is when Verokia was in the hospital and the doctors said she only had a short time to die.
"Veronika, Saint Veronika
You can't leave this world behind
So be strong enough to hold onto us
We're still right here by your side"
The doctors telling her that she still shouldn't commit suicide and the other patients telling her they're there for her.
"It's just not your time to die"
In the end, after Veronika escapes, the doctor says that he was lying about Veronika's time was coming to an end.
And I think the bridge (especially the line "Waiting to steal your love") has to do with when Veronika runs away with Edward (her lover) and she passes out. But Edward thinks se dead has he knew she only had a short time to live.
Not quite sure if that's what it's about, but it sure seems that way. -
I think the song is about the sufferings and struggles many people face in life, as of the character veronica, but also how you put up with these problems.
veronica attempted suicide, but that isnt the right solution to anything. veronica's "story" is supposed to motivate the listeners to um, stop killing and learn how to correctly handle current issues.
