Cavetown - It's All Good Meaning
It's All Good Lyrics
I'm not really sure how this pans out in the real world
But in my head, everything's going perfectly
And even though I'm not quite sure how, you've taught me to love the world
And be daring, and now life's exciting
But I am so...

This feels like questioning if someone really cares for you with lyrics mentioning “one day I’ll be solidly loving you and the next I’m not sure you even care for me at all” may indicate he really cares about this person but is still unsure about the stability of the relationship. And with lyrics like “how on earth could a galaxy like you think anything of a tiny star like me” may be him belittling himself and comparing himself to this person he cares about like he’s telling himself “oh they don’t really care. They’re so beautiful/handsome/pretty and I’m not” or something similar with lyrics mentioning stuff like “I’m not sure how this pans out in the real world but in my head it’s going perfectly” may mean he’s making up scenarios in his head to make him feel better about himself or his relationship with this person

I think this song is about second guessing someone’s love for you. Maybe you’ve never had someone there for you, and the thought of someone being there now is just unbelievable. The song mentions, “is there anyway to repay you?” And then lists how you could, writing a song, telling a joke, anything to make this person happy. “How on earth could a galaxy like you think anything of a tiny star like me?” This is you thinking that this person must be above you, because that’s all you’ve been taught. “But in the end I don’t really care what you think, because the bottom line is you make me happier than I’ve ever been” I think this is you beginning to realize that this person really, truly does care for you, and the line immediately following this, “after all, why would you do all the nice things you do, if you didn’t really mean them from the bottoms of your heart? So it’s all good” solidifies that. At the end of the song, we hear a chorus of “I think you might be my best friend” I think that this is you finally accepting that this person is there for you, and really does love you. At the beginning of the song, it says “I’m not really sure how this pans out in the real world, but in my head, everything’s going perfectly.” I think this really shows that you have never had someone there for you before, and now you’re a little wary of what might happen, though you’re ultimately more excited. You also mention that this person has “taught me to love the world and be daring” that could also mean they’ve saved you from a depression.
Overall I think this song is about your first true friend, and how you might have trouble believing they care at first, but slowly, they gain your trust. The “it’s all good” I think means that you believe everything that happened was worth it to have this amazing person if your life.
