Coheed And Cambria: Welcome Home Meaning
Welcome Home Lyrics
But you weren't honest
Now get in the ground
You choked off the surest of favors
But if you really loved me
You would have endured my world
Well if you're just as I presumed
A whore in sheep's...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:First off, lets all understand that this is written in mans point of view, cursing a woman. We'll call the man Claudio.
"You could've been all I wanted
But you weren't honest
Now get in the ground
You choked off the surest of favors
But if you really loved me
You would've endured my world"
In this, Claudio states that the woman(further to be known as Sarah) was everything he needed and wanted, but as she lied, he told her he would kill her. He states about her unwillingness to help, and if she loved him she would have been understanding.
"Well you're just as I presumed
A whore in sheep's clothing
Fucking up all I do
And if so here we stop
Then never again
Will you see this in your life"
Claudio states that he anticipated Sarah's deception, and how she ruined everything she did. He says that if he was right, she will never see him again.
"Hang on to the glory at my right hand
Here laid to rest is our love ever longed
With truth on the shores of compassion
You seem to take premise to all of these songs"
Claudio mourns the loss of his love, and notes her not being affected by songs he wrote.
"You stormed off to scar the armada
Like Jesus played Martyr,
I'll drill through your hands
The stone for the curse you have blamed me
With love and devotion, I'll die as you sleep
But if you could just write me out
To never less wonder... Happy will I become
Be true that this is no option,
So with sin I condemn you
Demon,play demon out!"
Sarah left to further scorn him, and Claudio states that she will do to her what he did to her lover. Sarah blames him for something he didn't do, and Claudio says He will die as she dies, indicating suicide. However, he asks for her to listen to him and he will be happy, but then notes how improbable it is, and condemns her, asking her to not fight while he kills her.
"One last kiss for you
One more wish to you
Please make up your mind girl...
I'd do anything for you
One last kiss for you
One more wish to you
Please make up your mind girl...
Before I hope you die"
Claudio repeatedly begs her to stop decieving him, and "Before I hope you die" gives the notion of some kind of supernatural ability or psychic torture chamber.
(NOTE: THese are most likely not right. all of Coheed and Cambria's albums expand over a saga containing characters named Coheed and Cambria, meaning every song has a specific meaning. ASk Claudio Sanchez for what they really mean.) -
I've always loved this and although it is not actually written about a girl named Sarah it hit me pretty hard since I am getting out of a bad relationship with a woman named Sarah who kinda fits this song pretty well (in a few areas but I'm sure my mind is drawing far more parallels than are actually there but such is the case when one is in my situation)
Either way this is a great breakdown of what has been one of my favorite songs ever since I first heard. I guess now that I have something to personally attach this song too it has become even much more loved. -
Final addition to these really well done explanations is that this is all a dream concocted by Claudio the Writer (as opposed to Claudio the Crowing or Claudio Sanchez who sings in the band).

Bloody hell, i thought my interpretation was good, but all four of you just smoked mine....Great job though, i really admire your skills at finding the deep and true meaning to this stuff. could i trouble you all to help me interpret Disturbed "Droppin' Plates"? it would be greatly appreciated :)

You both are correct above, except that no one interpreted where the name came from. The name comes from The Writer's mind, as he sees himself lowering Erica Court to the bottom of a grave he's dug for her, and as he says this he says "Welcome Home" indicating this is the place where she will "live".
-
Both of you are correct in referencing the comics.
Just to expand on the anonymous user above though, IF this song is referring to Erica, the the man would of course be the Writer.
For those of you who don't know about the comics, the writer and Erica are somewhat seperate from the Coheed and Cambria tale as the Writer is the man writing the story. There are comics revolving around both the lives of Coheed and Cambria AND the Writer.
-
You're pretty much there, except the girls name is Erica.
Other than that the only faults that I can find is that Claudio never touched Eirca's lover and that when he says "Before I hope you die" he simply means that if she doesn't stop playing with his mind that he'll hioe that she dies.
Brilliant interp' otherwise =]
