Creed: With Arms Wide Open Meaning
Song Released: 2000
With Arms Wide Open Lyrics
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about Scott Stapp's son being born and him realizing that he is going to be a father. He doesn't want his son to be like he was after he dropped out of college getting drunk and using drugs all the time. I got this from an interview of him off of VH1 if you don't believe me.

#2 top rated interpretation:This song was written when Scott Stapp (the band's lead vocalist) found out with great surprise that he was going to be a father. This song is addressed mostly to his soon-to-be son (Jagger). Read the lyrics again with this in mind. You'll see.

#3 top rated interpretation:I heard this song is about the birth of someone's son (perhaps the singer's?) and how he realizes he's really going to be a father now, and his hopes for his son. He hopes his son will not make the same mistakes he did (could be a teenage father in that case, at least that's one way to look at it), and that he'll reach out and embrace life. In this song, he's basically welcoming his son to the world.

This song could be Scott's
Parable of the Prodigal or (The Two Sons) - Matthew 21:28-32
But if you click on the link in this post, he will tell you exactly what the song is about.

It was the birth of scott stapp's son. He was doing a tribute to his son that was born the year his album came out. For the people that misinterpret lyrics try to find out the meaning of a song before you think you guys know them.

this song can be defined in many different ways and forms. it could be from the prospective of someone who is going to be a father perhaps. being that creed is a Christian band it relates more to God. maybe this person has decided to accept god in his heart and as his true savor. decides to get baptize for the second time if he was not born under the Christian faith. after being a while away from God he decides to get his relationship again with God. In this case God receives once more his son with his arms wide open and welcomes him back to his house and to be with him.
-
This song is about his son. He knows it's a boy, because he says "he" quite often. In a recent concert, now that he has more kids, he replaced the "he" with "they" :)
-
This song is about the lead singer and how he's goin to have a kid. I think its a boy because he says "he" a lot. Hes happy but he doesn't know if he ready for the things that come along with havin a kid. In one of the verses he also says somethin like "I hope he can take this life by the hand a preech to the world" so he wants his son to be a Christian that he never was when he was a kid, and he hopes that his son doesn't make the same mistakes.

(this was originally submited by brockli1010 not me so give them the credit...It was just sublited on the wrong song...So here's their interpitation: )
what I think this song talks about is somebody getting a girl pregnant and how happy he is, yet he doesn't know if he's ready: "well I just heard the news today it seems my life is going to change I closed my eyes, begin to pray then tears of joy stream down my face...Well I don't know if I'm ready to be the man I have to be I'll take a breath, take her by my side we stand in awe, we've created life"
the main thing that makes me thing he got a girl pregnant is "we've created life" and there are other little hints in that section of the lyrics, and then I think he starts to talk about how he wishes his kid will turn out: "welcome to this place I'll show you everything...I'll show you love I'll show you everything...I hope he's not like me I hope he understands that he can take this life and hold it by the hand and hold he can greet the world with arms wide open" -
Scott Stapp wrote this as soon as he learned his wife, Hilaree, was pregnant with his first child. He wrote it because he wanted his son to have a better life than him. His son's name is Jagger, he was born in November of 1998.

this song is refering to god. There is a story in the bible called "the prodigal son." the story is about a man whos son goes away for so long the man has even thought of his son as dead. The son has done a lot of wrong. but when the son comes back the father recieves him with arms wide open. just like the song says. That means even if we apart ourselves from god when we come back to him he will be waiting with arms wide open.
