Damien Rice: Nine Crimes Meaning
Song Released: 2006
Nine Crimes Lyrics
This is not what I do
It's the wrong kind of place
To be thinking of you
It's the wrong time
For somebody new
It's a small crime
And I've got no excuse
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is...
-
When the lyrics say "give my gun away when it's loaded,is that alright" I think the gun represents her heart.she's with some1 she loves, yet there's this other guy she wants to give it to,and for what reason I wouldn't know. It's so hard to decide when choosing which of the two you love more. and it's true, there's no excuse for cheating, and she get's so confused, that's why she keeps seeking comfort in asking if it's ok to do it. This song makes me cry, every single time.

It's about adultery/cheating on or being tempted to cheat on a partner. Basically being with someone and thinking about being with someone else.
