Daughtry: Over You Meaning
Song Released: 2007
Over You Lyrics
I can't believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down,
Like an old abandoned house.
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath.
I fell too far, was in way too deep.
Guess I...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is just about someone you love who basically left you heartbroken. They had you feeling at the top of the world and then they just crushed you like you didnt matter.(to build me up, then break me down, like an old abandoned house)Its basically telling the story of how they unexpectedly betrayed you and you feel like you should have known better and you never thought this particular person would do that to you so when you do find out you start thinking if you betrayed me like that then I'm better off on my own. It's just like saying to that person I'm over you now and you didn't break me, it hurt but I'm strong and I made it.

I think it could also be about casting off guilt and emotions like it. He thought he would never get through the feelings but got over them.
-
I think the song is about heartbreak and finally realizing that your relationship is doomed and was never real in the first place. they should have ended it a long time ago. its also about healing and learning to let go. Learning to build yourself back up after being torn down for so long.
-
Getting over a super toxic relationship with someone you were so inlove with but was being slowly destroyed by it.

I think there is more than way to interpret it, it could be a getting over you ex song like everyone says or it could mean getting over addiction. As you notice in the video the girl seems to be an alcoholic and the guy seems mad as he sees her drink and drink. So when the songs starts up with I never saw it coming it means he never say the addiction coming and how it would affect her life to the point were she lost her boyfriend either to an accident with the car or because he broke up with her after seeing how she was behaving due to her addiction which almost made them die. She is devastated because as I said before he died or he broke up with her, but the meeting she is going to is for her alcoholic addiction like alcoholics anonymous.

This song isn't so complicated; it's basically Daughtry pining over a girl who left him (or never loved him in the first place), but he realizes that he's over her. He probably expected to be in love with her forever, as in "I never thought I'd doubt you", but finally decided he would be better alone so he couldn't be hurt again.
