Daughtry: Life After You Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Life After You Lyrics
Spittin' out smoke on the side of the road
I'm out here alone just tryin' to get home
To tell you I was wrong but you already know
Believe me I won't stop at nothin'
To see you so I've started...
-
My interpretation of the song is Chris, or someone else, losing the love of their life due to something simple and stupid and him realizing what they have lost and going up to whoever it is and basically telling them the truth and how much its killing them to have ruined everything they had
-
Ten miles from town and I just broke down
Spittin' out smoke on the side of the road
I'm out here alone just tryin' to get home
To tell you I was wrong but you already know
Believe me I won't stop at nothin'
To see you so I've started runnin'
My Interpretation is that a couple had a fight, and the man left, and realized that he was in the wrong. Now he won't stop at anything to get back to her and get her back.
All that I'm after is a life full of laughter
As long as I'm laughing with you
I'm thinkin' that all that still matters is love ever after
After the life we've been through
'Cause I know there's no life after you
This is him saying that he wants to be with her. He wants to stay with her forever. He is saying that there is no life after her for him, that he won't be able to move on.
Last time we talked, the night that I walked
Burns like an iron in the back of my mind
I must've been high to say you and I
Weren't meant to be and just wasting my time
Oh, why did I ever doubt you?
You know I would die here without you
This is him talking about the fight and how he walked and what he said, how he didn't mean what he said. That it was stupid of him to do, and he didn't mean what he said.
All that I'm after is a life full of laughter
As long as I'm laughing with you
I'm thinkin' that all that still matters is love ever after
After the life we've been through
'Cause I know there's no life after you
Again, saying how he want's to live forever with her, and how he isn't going to be able to move on ,how he needs her.
You and I, right or wrong, there's no other one
After this time I spent alone
It's hard to believe that a man with sight could be so blind
Thinkin' 'bout the better times, must've been outta my mind
So I'm runnin' back to tell you
He is saying it is hard to believe how dense he had been by leaving her, thinking things would be better. How it was something that he should have never done.
All that I'm after is a life full of laughter
Without you God knows what I'd do
Him saying that he wouldn't be able to live without her, he would be lost.
All that I'm after is a life full of laughter
As long as I'm laughing with you
I'm thinkin' that all that still matters is love ever after
After the life we've been through
'Cause I know there's no life after you
Him saying again that he would be lost without her, he would not know what to do what him self. He would never move on.
