Deftones: Rosemary Meaning
Rosemary Lyrics
But the engine’s drone
Our minds set free
To roam
Time (shift)
We discover the entry
To other planes
Our minds bend
And our fingers fold
Entwined we dream of unknown
Time (shift)
We discover the entry
To...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think the song is about a deeper level of love and connection, being with someone whose you’d want to spend your life with and understanding that they wouldn’t leave you. Being bonded like nothing before, life a soulmate perhaps. It’s about making love, not the sexual type but definitely with connecting and understanding. This song is the definition of gorgeous.

#2 top rated interpretation:I believe this song is about the experience of making love. I mean actually making love not some random one night stand or a just having sex. It's about the spiritual connection there is between two lovers who are truly expressing their love and becoming one. "There's no sound but the engines drone"...just as when the world stops and you hear nothing but the beating of two hearts..."our minds bend and our fingers fold" if I have to break that down for you well you have bigger problems...the best part.."we slow down as the engine stalls our eyes catch sync...Explode!" then as "we connect with the Energy in other ways" Connecting with God on this level is truly amazing. This is a beautifully written song and the Deftones have given the listener the opportunity to vicariously experience the act of true love making through music.

I'm not sure what this song means but I came here to see if I could figure it out
In 2019 my father was diagnosed with leukemia cancer and he was battling with it until October 9th 2021
We were going to surprise my dad and show up to the hospital to spend time with him after I had left school
I live in oklahoma and his hospital was in Dallas Texas
We had an hour left before we reached the hospital and I received a call that my father was passing away and when I heard the words your father is gone this song was playing and the first lyrics I could hear when I heard what my stepmother said was "stay with me as we cross the empty skies"
I immediately broke down and everytime o hear this song it plays at the most random times and I always know my dad is visiting me
I was 15 when he passed
I am now 17
In May of this year I had tickets to go see deftones in LA but I never got to go
Hoping one day I can finally see them ... -
I would say it has mixed meanings, including something to do with the deceased bassist Chi Cheng who died in an automobile accident, hence the car imagery.

idk something about it makes me see someone struggling and by the time everyone else figures it out it’s too late and they’re begging them to hold on a little longer

It's about gear heads my guys wtf yall pervs thinking?

I do not pretend to know what was in the mind of who ever wrote the song. But... If it was about pure, sexual bonding through everlasting love I would not be surprised. "Rosemary", is a masterpiece of heavy metal rock. Pure genius. It's haunting Melody and pounding beat, compels repetitive listening, over and over again. Much like the intoxicating sex it alludes to.

My name is Rosemary, I meant the deftones in Seattle WA. I’m married, so nothing happened, but I introduced myself, and Mr. Chino said you have “a fucking awesome name” a few years later my song came out, at least that’s what I believe.
