Evanescence: Everybody's Fool Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Everybody's Fool Lyrics
Icons of self indulgence
Just what we all need
More lies about a world that
Never was and never will be
Have you no shame don't you see me?
You know you've got everybody fooled
Look here she comes now
Bow down and...
-
What this song means to me is it's about a girl who loved a guy who-figuratively or literally wasn't who he said he was, he betrayed her in an extreme way, and she made the difficult decision to let go of him. ("I know the truth now, I know who you are and I don't love you anymore.")

I love this song becuase of its deep meaning . i will try to explain this from my point of view, bt i think the message she is sending is pretty clear. (Perfect by nature , icons of self indulgence just what we all need more lies about a world that never was and never will be) she is reffering to the alter ego of her that the music industry has made , she is saying the alter ego is perfect and shows no flaws but its all a lie and the world is full of these lies that the media is buildin. Then ..(have you no shame dont u see me u know youve got everybody fooled) shes asking her alter ego have u no shame in seeing what im rlly becoming underneath this fakeness or fake mask. And then she's trying to say youre not worried because you know that everyone is fooled by the lies and the fake version of me . (look here she comes now bow down and stare in wonder oh how we love you no flaws when youre pretending) here she is talking about how people who see her on television and other actors and singers theyre practically worshipping these celebs. And once again no flaws when youre pretending reffering to more lies about who she rlly is. ( but now i know she never was and never will be you dont know how youve betrayed me and somehow youve got everybody fooled) meaning now she realizes that the fake her will never become the real her and she can never truly be happy and careless like the media shows , all glammed up and perky or watevr, and shes shocked at how easily the image of the fake her or alter ego can fool everyone so easily , so basically shocked at how blind people are that they dont see right through all the acts. (without the mask , where will you hide cant find yourself lost in your lies)
meaning without the fake mask she puts on in public , without that side of her she doesnt know who else to be and she is lost in without the fake side and lost in the lie and doesnt even know who she really is anymore.( i know the truth now i know who you are and i dont love you anymore ) she means that she knows that the image the music company made of her is a total lie and she is saying that she doesnt love that fake side of her anymore ...maybe in the beginning she did bcus of the glamour and all but now she sees that its all just lies and deceit. And then in the music video they show her in commercials and they label her as worthless and ugly ..the symbolism here is that the alter ego that acts so perfect is worthless and ugly and the real you is the good you. (youre not real and you cant save me , and somehow now youre everybodys fool) i think this last part refers to once again her alter side and how its all just one big lie and that the fake her cant save the real her and what shes like on the inside which is depressed and broken and possibly also meaning cant save her soul. And somehow now youre everybodys fool meaning and now youre the laughing stock of the company and the music industry that owns you and controls you and what you do. -
I used to think this song was about a girl who loved someone who seems to be perfect, but really he's a cheat and a liar but everyone else dosn't and she tries to tell them, but trying to prove it everyone turns on her and she is then left alone.
But then i realized that it was about someone lying about their appearance and fame is taking over them so yh... lol! -
It's about someone who's fake, like the first line says "perfect by nature, icons of self-indurgence" that means,we are human and we are icons of self-indurgence,and we all care about being happy. "Just what we all need, more lies about a world" which means she had been lied to before. "that never was and never will be,have you no shame, don't you see me? You know you've got everybody fooled" which means, the person's world and life is entirely fake, and the person never sees Amy. And,that, the person knows she's/he's got everybody fooled, but goes on with the lies. Well,i suppose it's a girl, because the 2nd verse starts with "Look, here SHE comes now,bow down and stare in wonder,oh,how we love you,no flaws when your pretending" Which i think means the fake girl's walking towards people, and Amy says to bow down because the person acts better then everybody else. And when she says stare in wonder, she means to think "How is she so perfect? How did she become like this?" and that the girl has many flaws,so she pretended to be someone she's not, just to erase those flaws. And that the girl has fans, and people adoring her,so Amy says "Oh,how we love you." Nextly she said "But now i know SHE,never was and never will be,you don't know how you've betrayed me,and somehow you've got everybody fooled." which i found out means Amy believed the girl was perfect, until she escaped the lie,and is saying the girl never was and never will be perfect, and that Amy feels betrayed, because the girl fooled her,and made her feel small, and that she has no idea how the girl made everyone believe she was perfect. "Without the mask, where will you hide, can't find yourself, lost in your lie." i asked my teacher (who's a total Evanescence/Amy Lee lover) and she told me what it means. She said Amy is telling the fake girl what would happen if people stopped believing her,and discovered the truth, and that she'd have nowhere to hide,if she got caught. And,the girl got so caught up in being perfect and loveable, she lost herself in the lie,and she doesn't know who she is anymore. "I know the truth now,i know who you are and i don't love you anymore" and i also got the answer from my teacher, and she told me Amy found out the entire truth of the girl,Amy knows who the girl really is,and that the love Amy once had for the fakeness, was gone, and she didn't like what the girl had become. "Never was and never will be,you don't know how you've betrayed me,and somehow you've got everybody fooled" which is just a repeat, except the betrayed part now means "You had everybody caught in your lie, including me,and i don't know how you got everybody fooled, when really, you had yourself fooled all along, and your not real anymore." and my fave part when she says "It never was and never will be,your not real, and you can't save me." means Amy knew everything about the girl, and she wasn't real. Her true self was hidden in the back of the girl's mind, and might never come back. The girl tried to make Amy into a lie,but Amy wouldn't let her. "And somehow now your everybody's fool..." which means Amy and the girl used to be really close friends, until the lie disappeared, and everybody found out the truth, causing the girl to be hated. And now she's everybody's fool...sorry it's so long,we had a project about Evanescence (Once again,teacher,Evanescence/Amy Lee fool)

amy told that this song was written when she saw that her sister wanted to be like britney spears and she had singed this song for britney and people like her...dirty and deciever.....plz talk from their interviews not............
-
She wrote this song to convince her sister to stop acting like britany spears.
-
I always thought this was a song about somebody hating GOd for not taking care of His children like He promised. This is the reason it gets skipped when I listen to the album...
-
when she says "your not real and you can't save me" Amy's telling the person she's become that no matter how bad Amy's life is, the person can't save her
-
I think it's about a girl who pretends to be someone she's not. Like, wearing wigs and lots of makeup. At the beginning of the music video it's a pizza commerical and she's wearing a blonde wig and then she says "there's nothing better then a good lie" and she realizes she's lying and that's why she stopped smiling. But when she says "And i don't love you anymore" Amy sees the truth and she's full of hate towards the person she's become and she smashes the mirror. But then she's screaming (well, singing) at an ad that says "lies: follow your passion" and she's singing "Your not real and you can't save me and somehow now your everybody's fool" So it's clearly about being someone your not and then she thinks the person is real and that person is taking over her.

I strongly believe she was with a very selfish, egocentric, perfect on the out side as in beautiful or handsome yet insecure in the inside, therfore resembling that mask that fools everyone to believe in them. The typical narcasist fits this kind of person the most. Charming to everyones eyes. Greatness, superior they feel. Trying to keep an image that is flawless. Using the ones who are closest to them yet to take advantage and thier goals reguardless of the emotional conseqenses. Like a toxic love that fooled you but you dont like the price you paid for by living it on a daily basis. She's tired of it yet it's difficult to let go of this. But according to her lyrics she has to cut it off. She was a fool but stood her ground by waking up to unmask that person whom she love. To not love them anymore. I speak true from my heart because I strongly love one that fits the lyrics to the T. Because the weakness of this kind of person underneath that mask. Once the truth is known there's no where to hide yet that person will be humiliated wanting to dissapear. If I'm wrong then at least it was my belief & strong opinion to pour it out. The music impacts on ones emotions to the core.

Well here's my idea its about that populars are perfect and icons of self indulgence and how your boyfriend dumps you for the perfect girl also you feel like everybodys fool and you really see what she's like and how you try to tell your ex and the the perfect girl is unmasked and becomes everybody's fool
-
i think its about her lying to herself, and she's betrayed herself and now everyone can see thry her and she's a fool now
-
I think that the song is about people( in this case some celebrities and others ) hiding who they truly are. In other words they are wearing a mask to make everyone think that they are perfect when deep down inside they really aren't. Over a long period of time it gets stressful looking at all the lies you have created to make yourself someone that doesn't even exist truly in you. Then you wonder how people will think of you if you show your real colors. So you end up hating what you have become and want to end it all but don't how. The fact that I am 13 and seeing this about most people including me it makes you think "what have I become" " how can I show people who I really am " and " should I or should I end it all" . But please don't answer or ask those questions just think about how you can make yourself you. This is what I think this song is about and it brings tears to my eyes everytime I see it because I don't know who I really am anymore but I know now.
-
this is about Britney spears being so fake, i dont know the full meaning word for word but the song is generally about Britney and other fake celebs
-
I think its about how some celebs are plain fake . And they hide behind there mask so they will seem perfect
