Heavy in Your Arms Lyrics

I was a heavy heart to carry
My beloved was weighed down
My arms around his neck
My fingers laced to crown.

I was a heavy heart to carry
My feet dragged across ground
And he took me to the river
Where he slowly let me drown

My love has concrete...

    I always assumed that it was the woman singing about how she was such a burden to her lover, that she held him back and kept him from enjoying life. But even though she ruined him, he never blamed her. He did everything he could to carry her and keep her safe. So at the end she's angry at herself, because even though it was her fault, he was the one who got hurt.

    It’s about getting high with your lover.
    Actually Florence, herself, said it’s about how loving someone can sometimes be burdensome. How love can be both pleasure and torture.
    I still like to think it’s a little a bit about getting stoned with your boyfriend.

    I was a heavy heart to carry
    {A lovers affection is too strong for the other to carry; or it's a cheating situation..}
    My beloved was weighed down
    {he/she feels guilty.?}
    My arms around his neck
    My fingers laced to crown.
    {they left a mark but not a deep enough one}

    I was a heavy heart to carry
    My feet dragged across ground
    {Again affections to heavy to carry,the relationship moved to fast of a paste}
    And he took me to the river
    Where he slowly let me drown
    {describing breakup}

    My love has concrete
    My love has concrete feet
    My love's an iron ball
    Wrapped around your ankles
    Over the waterfall
    {summing up she hasn't given up (or he)

    It s about the struggle of a woman who left a man she loves very much but that she can t live with. She has already depression problems for herself, and he is not strong enough to pay attention to both her and himself. He realized his mistakes that drove her away, he is a changed man now. She does not know if she should give him another chance and risk to have her heart broken again. It seems she does give him a try and he is able to carry on with his and her problem, making her feet to never touch the ground!

    This song was written for the Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
    It is about Bella and her relationship with both Edward and Jacob.

    How edward left her broken and "heavy" ( A burden, and full of pain)

    "He took me to the river where he slowly let me drown"
    "Who is the betrayer? Who's the killer in the crowd?
    The one who creeps in corridors And doesn't make a sound"

    Then how Jacob tried to mend her heart.

    "And is it worth the wait All this killing time?
    Are you strong enough to stand. Protecting both your heart and mine?"
    "I was a heavy heart to carry But he never let me down
    When he held me in his arms My feet never touched the ground"

    About how she knows she will just bring jacob down with her.

    "My love has concrete feet My love's an iron ball
    Wrapped around your ankles Over the waterfall"
