Foo Fighters: Cheer Up Boys (Your Make Up is Running) Meaning
Song Released: 2008
Cheer Up Boys (Your Make Up is Running) Lyrics
But all along it never meant a thing
Never stopped to ask you why
You didn't pass me by
Did you see me in your life?
Flash before your eyes
Was it just that I wasn't hard enough
Hard enough for you
Stop using...

Well it’s not my interpretation so much as it’s just common knowledge; they wrote this song for 2 Australian miners that got stuck in a gold mine collapse down in Tasmania. Specifically Beaconsfield.
This happened in April 2006.
Whilst waiting for their rescue they requested a few things and one of those was iPods loaded with Foo Fighters songs.
Dave Grohl heard all about this and sent them personal messages saying he’d meet up for beers with them after they got out.
Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners is for them. As well as: Cheer Up Boys; Your Makeups Running. -
I believe that this song is just saying that when you think something bad is happening to you that its not the end of the world and there are many new opportunities for you "theres a world out there". Its just one of those songs that portrays happiness cause every time i take a listen no matter my mood i always smile. It also helped me get through some personal problems when i was really sad i would listen and it would cheer me up!

Well, I have heard this song is a slam on the Emo Rock scene. Dave wrote it to attack the bleak and depressing songs they write. I think when he says, "Did you see me when your life flashed before your eyes?" he is talking about how 'death-obsessed' some of them are.
