Foo Fighters: In Your Honor Meaning
In Your Honor Lyrics
Can you hear me
Hear me screamin'
Breaking in the muted skies
This thunder heart
Like bombs beating
Echoing a thousand miles
Mine is yours and yours is mine
There is no divide
In your honor
I would die tonight
Mine is yours and...

#1 top rated interpretation:First of all, Kurt Cobain died in 1994. Meaning at the present time, he's only been dead for 12 years. And In Your Honor came out in 2005 so he'd only been dead for 11 years at the time, not 15. And not every meaningful thing Dave Grohl writes is about Kurt Cobain.
-
In the end all song are open to interpretation take it how you want it and use it in your own life that's what music is all about.
-
No guys, sorry, not every Foo Fighters song is about Kurt Cobain.
-
im sick and tired of every single song the man writes being rumoured to be about kurt, the one and only song the man wrote about kurt is titled friend of a friend, and yes its on this album. No other song is about kurt.
-
This song isn't about Cobain. It's for the fans. The only song by the Foo Fighters written for or about Cobain is "Friend of a Friend", as Grohl has said himself.
-
I hate when people keep saying "this song is about kurt!" for every foo song. But for once, I think they may be right. Evey lyric in the song fits. It sounds as though Dave would do anything to contact kurt, even die. If he was to reference Kurt in a song you'd think he'd make it good, and this is a really really powerful song. He even named the album after it and it's the first track.
-
I'm pretty sure he said openly this album was dedicated to John Kerry.

I think its like the first guy said. He may have been off in years but if you think about the song, it all makes sense. In YOUR Honor (YOUR=Kurt), For you to feel alive(Kurt's dead people, signs of him missing Kurt); also in the music video (may be out of context) there is a part where is raising his glass, a toast to the dead.
As it was said they were good, great, best friends, and in the biography(out of all the books on Cobain its refered as the true biography) it says Kurt's mother and Grohl are the only two people the author asked who didn't add anything. This may be his addition to it but in a more meaningful way; through music no text. Also the first time I heard the song and payed attetion to the lyrics that's exactly what I thought it was about because I am a Nirvana lover.
Well there's my long input,
Peace, Kode!!!(Cody) -
Dave Grohl actually wrote this song dedicated to all of the fans as a thanks for making the band what it is today.
