Foo Fighters: Rope Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Rope Lyrics
I've been cheating gravity and waiting on the falls
How did this come over me, I thought I was above it all
Our hopes gone up in smoke, swallow your crown
CHOKE
On a kiss, I thought I'd save...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:I think the song is about climbing walls of a relationship.
Sometimes you hang on someone, and the other time you're pulling that person up:
Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm hanging on you
Give me some rope I'm coming loose, I'm pulling for you now -
I think it has something to do with Adam Yauch from the Beastie Boys. you can clearly hear Dave hollar "Yauch" through out the song. This song came out before his death, but after his 2009 diagnosis with cancer.
-
I think the song is about feelings of being under pressure, perhaps even with fame and not being able to live your life the same, forcing some relationships to bend and change. Basically, I think it's a cry for help, especially as the video is filmed in a tight claustrophobic space
-
the songs could mean the need for one another on a relationship… like a rope you need to pull when you feel the relationship is getting boring or without excitement
-
it's so clearly about asphyxiwanking....'when you go i come'....'cheating gravity'....'i'm pulling for you'....come on guys it's obvious!

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
It's about the give and take of a relationship
Not every Foo Fighters song is about Grohl's relationship with Cobain, I hate when people relate every song to Cobain's death. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
The song talks about his wife. the lyrics "when you go, I come lose" mean that he feels upset when he's not with his wife.
