New Way Home Lyrics

Have you found your way around the down and out?
I know it must seem long, so long

I'm still trying to keep this time from running out
Head down, always moving on and on and on

I never heard this warning, another early morning
Takes me, wakes...

Thanks! I didn't know that. I am not from the United States. I still agree with the rest of my interpretation I submitted half a year ago though, pretty funny reading this post that I wrote in the middle of the night haha.

To Johnny, I like your interpretation, I just wanted to clarify the boats and Kingdome bit. When the Foo Fighters released The Colour and the Shape, Dave Grohl had been living in Seattle for roughly Seven years and one of the main attractions in Seattle (during this time) was a stadium known as the Kingdome, which was located near the waterfront. Hence the "I pass the boats and the kingdome"

That nobody even submitted an interpretation for this song says a lot. I've been looking for it everywhere (read: 5 minutes on Google) and I can't find it. This leaves me with my own interpretation which I will share here; you're welcome!

This song talks about the roller coaster called life and finding your way. 'Have you found you're way around the down and out' is talking about depression for me and rising above it.
I think its also about having a job and working to support (manage) your girlfriend. Its about being scared about having a 'normal' boring life and family. But the guy in this song loves this 'leash' that is holding him and he discovers he is not scared anymore. He feels like this on his way home.
About the boats and kingdom...I think he's talking about reaching salvation; like the Greeks thought the river Styx took them to the afterworld. So he's not scared anymore on his way home and he reaches salvation.

Pretty good huh? It's an optimistic interpretation and lets me love the song even more. Damn I love screaming along with the ending of this song!
