Foo Fighters: Walk Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Walk Lyrics
Your signal in the distance
To whom it may concern.
I think I lost my way
Getting good at starting over
Every time that I return.
I'm learning to walk again.
I believe I've waited long enough;
Where do I begin?
I'm...
-
To break it all down: its about rebirth and change for the better.
-
Reincarnation, perhaps?
-
This entire music video was based off of the movie: FALLING DOWN. I highly recomend you watch it, the movie was phenominal. As for the song, its about how one realises a new state of mind and enjoys freedom.
-
I'm on my knees praying for a sign....
I never want to die....
Dancing on my grave....
This sounds like a person who has been close to death....maybe considered suicide.... People who are never close to or consider death..... dont shout out "I never want to die" and are happy to dance on a place where they could be buried... A grave is only dug for someone who is believed to be dead.... A person dancing on his grave.... has survived a moment when the gravedigger thought he was a gonner.....He is not dancing with joy on someone else's grave.... Happy that that person is dead..... He is dancing on his grave..... Happy to be alive..... forever
Sounds a bit like a spiritual awakening.... rebirth.... William James's "Conversion" Shedding the old ways.... "learning to walk again" "Learning to talk again" And aware that he has gone through a period of change...maybe introspection.... "I believe Ive waited long enough....." suggests an awareness of working through change....
On my knees praying for a sign...... That is prayer and faith...
Great song -
he said he got the name and idea for the song from watching his daughter walk for the first time. Sometimes artists piece songs together from different things that don't necessarily have to do with one another.
-
if you watch the video its a play off the movie falling down starring michael douglas. the movie is about a guy who flips out after becoming fed up with society so that probably probably has something to do with the songs meaning.
-
Recently I have gone through a breakup of a two year relationship, and this song (to me) symbolizes the late night phone calls trying to work, saying how we're going to fix things, "getting a good start over" and trying to move past everything and start over, like a child "learning to walk again". And trying to figure out where to even start trying to work it out again.

As others have said, I believe it is a nod to someone important in his life and restarting the relationship with that person after losing his way. This song could be about his relationship with his daughter as he spoke about spending the day with her before playing the song at the KROQ Weenie Roast. As a parent you can only imagine missing portions of your kids life as you go on the road for stretches and then come home to remember what you've been missing. He's "getting good at starting over" when he comes home from being on tour.

It is taking to Kurt
-
I thought it might be a nod to Kurt, saying he is at peace with losing him... but what do I know?
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The below quoted lyrics are the key to the meaning of this song. The chorus obviously supports whateer the message it here...
"Do you remember the day
We built these paper mountains
And sat and watched them burn
I think I found my place
Can't you feel it growing stronger
Little conquerors" -
I think this song is about how he screwed up, and is still screwing up. However, he wants to - and has tried many times - to fix himself. Then, in the bridge he prays that he can fix what he wants to, and shows how he is not afraid of death, prooving his willingness to do whatever it takes.
I think it kind of relates to the music video, where the video is what he did right before what happens in the song. Totally going against the world before total remorse takes him over.
I might ound rambling, but if you can decipher what I'm talking about, it makes sense. -
Without any doubt this song is about just simply facing the unknown all over again. But making sure you don't forget where you're coming from.
