Goo Goo Dolls - Home Meaning

Song Released: 2010
Home Lyrics
Our deepest conversation full of lies
Another night with all my friends
The kind you’ll never see again
I wonder if they’ll see through my disguise
And I want to say
That I can’t hold back
And it might be...
-
Also, John said that Home is a place where people care if you are dead or alive. When you walk in the door, people smile because they are happy to see you. It doesn't have to be the place you live, it's any place where there are people who care about you.
-
The first verse talks about probably life on the road. Each night you go somewhere, like a bar or something with a bunch of strangers, however you interact and mingle, putting on these conversations just for show, therefore having "deepest conversation full of lies" and acting like they are friends, even though it's temporary and you'll never see them again. Meanwhile he's trying to deal with it and enjoy it, but he "can't hold back" and has to reach out to his significant other, and say how much he misses her, wishing he could be home with her.
The chorus emphasizes wanting to be home because it's the only place of belonging.
