Good Charlotte: Hold On Meaning
Hold On Lyrics
But you don't, you don't have to go
You're feeling sad you're feeling lonely
And no one seems to care
You're mother's gone and your father hits you
This pain you cannot bare
But we all bleed the same way as...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about the families of suicide victims. The lyrics indicate a family where the mother has committed suicide, and it's from the child's point of view. The father abuses the child and he/she feels the urge to follow in their mother's footsteps. The chorus is telling her to hold on, hang in there and something will turn up.

I believe that this is talking about a teenager at 17 who commits suicide because nothing in their life is going right. They lost their mother at a young age and their father abuses them. Good Charlotte then goes on to talk about how we all feel the pain of this kid and that we all go through the same things they do. Everything gets better and that is what Good Charlotte is trying to say. No matter how horrible your life is, you mean something to someone. Even if you don't know that you mean something to them yet, you will never know if you commit suicide. They say he doesn't know what he's looking for but they don't want to look anymore. They tell him/her not to stop looking because they are closer and it's not over yet. They are basically saying that you will find a reason for living. Many people would be torn up if you killed yourself but you don't realize that until it's too late and you are laying there dying.

Basically the song is about people who want to commit suicide. The song is telling them that no matter how much you want to commit suicide and how much they think that their life sucks, that they should hold on because if they kill themselves, then things won't get better for them selves, it will also hurt your loved ones.
it also means that no matter how bad things get, it WILL get better and that Good Charlotte doesn't want them to die and that they understand them and what they may be going through. -
its so obvious that this song was written about people who knew people that commited suicide and as it was said earlier, they came up with the song because of the numerous letters they were getting from kids thinking about suicide
basically the song is saying:
the world is harsh
but you don't have to give up
u may think your life sucks and your home life isn't that great either
everyone goes through it
take it for now and things will get better -
They wrote this song because of the amount of letters from kids who were thinking of commiting suicide. It tells the kids to hold on to try and make it through it. That there is other people who are going through some what of the samethings. To just live a little bit longer and things will get better all on its own.
I was told by a very close person to me that suicide is a permanant solution to a temperary problem. And it's true. -
This is a very easy song to figure out. This is a song about a friend of the band members who tries to commit suicide because he has an abusive father and a mother that is always gone. The song tries to talk him out of it: "you don't have to go," and the phrase "we all bleed the same way as you do" is saying everyone has problems, but you can get through them. "If you fell like letting go,hold on".

This song was written because of all the suicide letters Good Charlotte got. It is about people who wanted to commit suicide or have been affected by someone they know who have commited suicide. It is telling everyone who wants to or wanted to commit suicide to just hold on and live and it will get better. In the music video it used actual people affected by suicide. It is really sad. :(

This song is about suicide, and how people can be affected by it. Its saying, do not commit suicide, it will get better, just hold on and wait, something will happen
-
this song was written because the boys were meeting their fans who were so depressed that they were thinking of suicide so they wrote this song to show how bad it is and what your leaving behind .
-
This is an anti suicide song. The music video showed real people effected by it. And a response to all the people who wrote suicide notes to good charlotte.
