Not living by your parents/teachers/classmates standards. If you ever feel like you’re worth way more than school and you have any talent in something, then do it. Be yourself, be different

THis song is about being yourself and not trying to fit into a certain stereotype: "Do you really wanna be like them?/ Do you really wanna be another trend?" Even though everyone is pressuring you to live up to a certain standard set by society, do what you want to do: "Go to college/ A university/ Get a real job/ That's what they said to me/ But I could never live the way they want"

It's basically about doing what you want in life, not following the rules. It has two elements:
1: Telling you're parents who want you to go to university you don't want to and you hate school.

2: Telling jocks/popular kids who don't like people who stand out that you're not going to follow their silly rules, and you're not going to be like them and more importantly, you don't want to.
