   He is talking about the road to fame and how you reach fame which is through all of the lights hence the reference if you want it you can get it for the rest of your life. You perform gigs at clubs, parties, studio, and even television. Then with time hit Hollywood and you're a household name: your popular. But once you become famous you're in the news and your life is under a magznifiying glass and its about him because he did something, the taylor swift incident, and then he left the music scene for a short time: that why he says I did my time and spent that bread. He returned and he was replaced by other people like Drake and lil Wayne, so he had work his way back to the top.

   I'm sorry, it's not really that deeps is it?
   Isn't it self explanatory?
   Isn't it about a guy who has a wife and daughter, they live in the ghetto, he slaps his wife, goes to jail, gets out, comes home to find his wife has a new boyfriend, he teaches him/her a lesson (ghetto university) by bashing him, she gets a restraining order, he can't be with his wife or daughter, he doesn't want his daughter growing up without a dad in the ghetto's, he wants his family back, he has visitations with his daughter, he's broke, he's down and out, he wants to do a 'line' (drugs') ...
   or something like that?
   The lights are a few different things:
   the lights on the cop cars, the lights of a big city and being light up as in 'exposed'. Is Rhiannon singing this bit as the wife who wants her husband exposed for doing wrong?
   The guy it's about could be Chris Brown? another famous artist? or any guy who hits his wife?
   MJ is mentioned maybe just because he must of meant a lot to the artist in one way or another. No matter whether you love or hate MJ it is indisputable he was one of the most influential artists ever.
   That's my opinion anyway. Each to his/her won.

    U dnt rlly need and interpretation, the music video tells it all, and the lyrics talk about a father who has lost custody of his daughter, and he has to bear with the fact that his daughter has departed from him, he talks about how he doesn't want his daughter in the "ghetto university", not to be a sterotype, but many kids in the ghetto don't have fathers, and therfore Kanye doesn't want her daughter to fall in the negative statstics.
    By the way Kanye's parents had split when he was three and he and his mother moved to Chicago in the southside , which is infamously known for being in the "ghetto" ( for those of you who didn't know, Kanye was born in Atlanta, but he spent most his life in Chicago or Chi-town)
