Everything Lyrics
speak to me
i want to feel you
i need to hear you
you are the light
that is leading me
to the place where
i find peace again
you are the strength
that keeps me walking
you are the hope
that keeps me trusting

#1 top rated interpretation:To the one who wrote "...but how could God be "my purpose"?"....My question to you is how could you not see how God can be your purpose??
Giving your life to God, having a relationship with Christ is as personal or more than having a spouse. Loving Christ is not about going to church once a week, its about seeing how much you depend on Christ for your salvation and living your life with meaning and "purpose" for the savior that died for our sins. -

#2 top rated interpretation:My interpretation of this song is A person is very lonely and they have turned from God and they have just found that he is the only one that can help them. He is all they want he is all they need he is evrything. Maybe this person has tryed other avenues of finding peace but now they relise that God is everything that they need. To me this song is a great witness to people who are lost and searching for something to cling to or belive in. now let me take the oppritunity to tell you how much God means to me he is my Everything without him I would be as a dead flower on the first day of spring. I dedicate everything I do everything I am to the almighty God.

#3 top rated interpretation:Lifehouse is a Christian band!! Duh people! Most of their songs, except the newer ones, are about Jesus! Yeah you can change up the view however you want, but they were intended to be Christian-based. This one in particular.

to me think it's a very spiritual song inspired by God himself.each time I listen to this song I always get moved and imagine how much God loves us so it can only be a song for God

I've listened to this song for many years. And at different times in my life I have thought it to mean different things. When I was younger I always thought the song was about a person/relationship. Infact we had it played at our wedding. But listening to the song the other day for the first time in years, I felt the song had a deeper meaning than that. I felt it was almost of a spiritual nature. I feel it very well could be written about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I feel the way the song is written, it's written so well, it almost can be about what you want it to be about. I think its written to go either way, it's written so that the listener can connect to it how they feel the need.

it's a love song, Jason Wade said it was a love song to his wife during a concert

I've enjoyed Lifhouse's music since their first album ten years ago when I was just a dumb highschool kid. Yes, many of their lyrics are incredibly deep like this, and others are just happy-go-lucky, good-time, I-just-met-this-amazing-girl kind of thing. I don't remember ever hearing them confirm that they are soley a Christian band. Mostly I see them on the alternative/post grunge genre. I've tried looking it up to see if this particular song was written about God and only God, and I haven't found anything to confirm that either. All that seems to be out there in the interpretation department is chronic bantering back and forth as various people attempt to one-up eachother to prove their own view, and completely ignore any other alternative. What's more, if music is an art, then it is always open for interpretation. There are songwriters, like Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish, who purposely withold the truth of their lyrics because they want the listener to draw their own conclusions and really put forth an effort to think about it. This song is very powerful, both lyrically and instrumentally. Therefore, it's meaning can be subjective from person to person. Accept that fact, and just enjoy music!

This song cannot be about both a girl or opposite sex and God. The only relationship that should be this intense is one with our Father in heaven. He is speaking about finding rest and fulfillment, that cannot come through any human it has to come through God. If this members of this band are Christians they realize this and wrote this song to and about God.

This is a very beautiful and perfect example of how it was with Christ in the garden of Eden. As Christians, when we come to the saving knowledge of Christ and we have that very close and personal relationship with Him in the beginning, we don't want to lose that knitted bond we have. However, as days go by, our human side kicks in overdrive again, and outside influences begin to pick at us. Old habits, friends, struggles get us down, and we become weak wondering who we are again and ask ourselves what our purpose in life is. Christ, is always there to pick us up and hold us. We have to break through the bondage with God's help to get the chains of sin off of us. We can't do it by ourselves. The video and music is ultimate, and I watch it many times. God is and only He is our "EVERYTHING". Nobody can be our everything, it takes the perfect power of God. God is waiting for you to call upon Him to be your Everything. Why wait. You may not get another chance down the road, before sin completely engulfs you and takes total control of your life. Resulting in death, your eternity hanging between heaven or hell.

Maybe its about God, maybe not. It COULD be either way, so dont assume you know everything.
That being said, to me, in my opinion, its about a woman.
I recently ended a friendship with someone I stressed too much and after she told me I had made her cry plenty of times, I ended the friendship to avoid hurting her and she was the person that was helping me so much. Leading me and guiding me and getting me to trust again. She kept me calm when I was angry and as a friend, shes all I want. I'd give anything to hear her or be near her again. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about how Jesus is everything to us and he asks how can God stand with us, yet some people don't accept that he exists 'and how can i stand here with you and not be moved by you' and then they talk about how god has made everything perfect 'would you tell me how could it be any better than this'

I think this song is to be interpreted how ever it fits your life. They may have written this song with intent for it to be about God however, the interpretation of music is left to listener and what they learn or take from it. Be open minded people don't judge because someone doesn't follow your belief.

its a great song reminds me of the ocean i do believe its about finding a purpose and i also understand the religouse afflication this band has but as my opinion:The lyrics of this song give off a sense of desperation and announcement. It seems to be a case of getting well coming out of a bad place in life or situation maybe an addiction that’s recovering. Declaring a pure love and realizing how blind they were. It’s not asking for a response but just telling how it has affected them in the best of all ways. And then when it gets to the strong part of the chorus it’s a powerful sense of achievement and wanting pronouncing as loud and forceful as possible that there here because of you. This song is the future to come it’s the meaning of life yet to be found weather it be love or a passion or a calling or even religion it’s a way to calm my soul and to see the big picture it lights the soul yes this song is hopeful and in this song there is utter want to get there faster to say I have always wanted you. The song gives off a sense of waves in the ocean taken adrift in a song it’s calm and strong at the same time. It’s honest and unjudged the song isn’t susceptible to criticism because it’s not about opinions it’s about feeling.

well i think that this song is about how in your life you have alot of thing that keeps you away from god and that god is alway there for you.
when he say "you hod me in your hands and you will never let me fall" he is saying that he is always there and wont let him slip off track.
is very explained in the lifehouse-everything skit -

like someone else said before, go on youtube. watch the skit for this song. it will help you understand so much better about this song, and its true meaning.
"i want to hear You, i need to feel You"
when you are down, in your worst time of your life, He is there. He will you to where you'll find peace again.
"You calm the storms, -- You hold me in your hands, You won't let me fall"
God can heal all, He helped the lame walk. He rose lazerus from the dead.
"Your all i want, Your all i need, Your everything"
He is all you need in this world. if it were't for Him, we wouldn't even be here on earth.
