Lifehouse: You And Me Meaning
Song Released: 2005
You And Me Lyrics
What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me...

#1 top rated interpretation:In the first verse, the line "the clock never seemed so alive" tells us that this person is so in love that time flies by so quickly.
Then in the second verse, the line "im tripping on words, you got my head spinning" shows us that when your with the one you love, you get all giddy and nervous and nothing seems to come out right.
In the third verse is pretty self-explanetry, when its saying, "everything she does it beautiful, everything she does is right." He can see no flaws in this girl he is in love with.
The chorus shows that even though there are so many people around, there is always that one person you want to be with and that your thinking about. The line " i can't take my eyes off you" emphazizes this point. -

#2 top rated interpretation:This song is about love. It's not sad it's a melody, and the best love song ever. I've been with someone for a year now and it seems like I asked them out yesterday. When you love someone you don't see anyone else and nothing else seems to matter and time is the last thing on your mind.

#3 top rated interpretation:Here's what this song means to me:
This is a little different from the other posts I read but hopefully this will make sense.
In the first verse he's talking about how his attraction to the girl has distracted him from everything else. The thing is, I don't think he's actually met her yet but he wants to. "I can't keep up" means he's having trouble figuring out how to approach this girl and it's taken him a while to figure it out. "I can't back down" means he's going to get up the guts to talk to this girl.
The chorus pretty much tells the truth of the matter: he has nothing to lose by trying to talk to her. Then it goes on to say out of all of the people around, his attention is on her.
The second verse reinforces my idea that he's trying to approach this attractive girl he hasn't yet met. Basically it's saying he's getting nervous and tongue-tied around her; something that often happens to guys when trying to talk to an attractive girl.
Then the bridge after the second chorus goes on to explain that even though he doesn't know the girl, there's something or somethings about her that have captivated him.
To sum up, I think this song reveals the nerves a guy may face when trying to make that first move and go up to the pretty girl he sees all the time. But in the end, there's nothing to lose.
Now there's a girl I see all the time and I don't know her at all, but she's beautiful and there's something about her. I've been telling myself for a while now to just talk to her, but I keep putting it off. After listening to this song, I'm done letting days go by without trying to talk to her. -
This song sounds like a confession of a lonely guy in a bar with lots of other lonely people. And he can't stop looking at the lonely, neglected housewife.
-
Love which survives all obstacles including death. Time is not relevant and words are lost but the lasting love of this woman is profound and strong.

This song, and every other song by Jason Wade and his band Lifehouse is about his relationship with Jesus Christ. It can obviously be applied to any kind of relationship that a person has with someone who they love very much. However, the original intent is based on the fact that he is talking about his walk through life with The Lord. He writes all of his songs using vague lyrics so that a secular audience can appreciate it too, but what he really means is a religious tone to all of his music. I didn’t know this at first either, but I’d you look it up, that is what they are about.
-
My interpretation of this song is totally different than most here. When I read the words and hear it, it seems like Jason Wade wrote this song to describe his relationship with a woman he loves. And as the song progresses, it sounds alot like getting ready for his wedding(losing so much time) but is outright said in “you and me and all of the people” who have “nothing to lose/prove”. He also mentions he can’t take his eyes off the woman which could mean she looks beautiful for the event in her wedding dress. He also mentions that “I can’t keep up and I can’t back down” which implies he’s exhausted by the preparation for the wedding but also has cold feet.

This song is about his relationship with Jesus...

This happened to me last month in High school. the girl I love basically makes me lose track of the time (what day is it? and in what month?) I get tongue tied (all of the things I wanna say just aren't coming out right. I'm tripping on words, you got my head spinning) and I can't stop thinking about her (I don't know why, I can't take my eyes off of you)
-
This song is about two people that are in love. The guy knows he has had some bad breakups and now no one can't break them up! its you and me!.
-
This song reminds me of a boy who cant take his eyes of this girl that he liked all along and just didn't know how to tell her.
-
You know what I think this songs means to me.. It is about this boy who really likes this girl but he can not find a way to tell her how much she means to him. As he notices that each day goes by he is just wasting another day not letting her know how he feels. He is not quiet sure why she means so much to him. When he is with this girl he doesn’t notice anything around him but her. But when he gazes upon her he feels like time freezes its like time does not exist when he is around her admiring her.
just the way I feel about this girl -
I selected "You and Me" for a video that I produced and presented to my girlfriend to commemorate our one-year anniversary. We've been together for three years as of this writing and will be married in 2011. The song describes us perfectly.
The first verse ("the clock never seemed so alive") is all about how time flies when you're having fun and in a new relationship. I'm divorced, so the last line in that verse ("I've been losing so much time") touches on the fact that it has taken me so long to finally find my true soulmate. In the chorus we celebrate the fact that we are no longer part of the dating scene ("you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to lose") and the amazement that we are so completely in love ("I can't keep my eyes off of you").
In the second verse I want the relationship to work ("All of the things that I want to say") but I'm struggling with being ready for the next step ("I don't know where to go from here").
After repeating the chorus the bridge reinforces an underlying feeling of awe. There's something about her and about the relationship that is almost too good to be true ("everything she does is beautiful, everything she does is right").
The next trip through the chorus is quiet, almost as if I'm thinking it to myself, followed by a proclamation that it's you and me. The song ends the same as it started, with time flying by because we're just as in love as we were when the relationship began. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Myself personally, I think this song is the definition of love. Love makes you feel crazy, unsure, and the feeling you know everything in the world at the same time:) The guy singing the song is of course singing it to the girl that he loves more than anything in the world. She amazes him on a daily basis. To find love like the way they feel in this song, is once in a lifetime. When you find it, fight for it !! Do everything you can to keep it. Whatever that is lost can always be found again.
-
Its about the how love is completely engulfing. It takes over mind and body, as she becomes essentially another part of him. He even states " I dont know why, I cant quite figure out", showing just how strong this is, in that he has no reasoning for this behaviour, its just a force propelling him forward. LOVE.
-
"There's something about you now I can't quite figure out, everything SHE does is beautiful, everything SHE does is right"... how come it's always saying "you" and then turns to "she"? The song is about a guy dating a girl who is beautiful and right, but secretly inside wants another girl who is out of reach or doesn't know anything. When he see's her, theres nothing he can do, he can't prove anything, there's all these people around that don't know and don't mean anything to him when she's there, and he can't figure out how she has captivated him.

You and me is written similarly to the book Song of Songs or Song of Solomon in the bible, taken at face value it is written about the infatuation of two lovers for each other, but between the lines it is about god’s love for his children.
