   The song is about a relationship falling apart. The first verse described how the male cut it off, not the female, and how the female acted as though it was uncalled for. The second verse is about why they broke up, which is probably due to one being all controlling and time consuming and self consuming and always wanting more from the other, but one not wanting to give that and expressing it, comparing it to a soldier and general. The chorus is the guarantee that one day, if if you keep listening to your lover and doing what they say and being a slave to their every word, that one day you will be happy and it will all make sense. At least I hope that's what it means or this would be rather embarrassing XD

   I think its about war and betrayal and how the soldiers have to follow the orders even if they dont want to.

   I believe that this is about God- in a negative manner. Saying he's a waste of time, that they don't wanna have to follow his rules. That they aren't his soldiers, they can do what they want. They wanna control their own lives, not search for a purpose in a God they can't be sure exists.
