One More Light Lyrics
Can I help you, not to hurt anymore?
We saw brilliance, while the world was asleep
There are things that we can have, but can't keep
If they say:
Who cares if one more light goes out
In the...

#1 top rated interpretation:"Should have stayed were the signs I ignored" There were signs that a person was going to end their time, but the signs were ignored by the person suffering a loss.
"Can I help you not to hurt anymore?" The person doesn't want to lose the one wanting to end their life, but can't do anything to save them.
"We saw brilliance when the world was asleep." They saw the bright side of both of them.
"There are things that we can have, but can't keep" This resembles the life of a person. You can have a person as a friend, but when their time runs out, you can't keep them with you.
"If they say; who cares if one more light goes out in the sky of a million stars?" Suffering a loss, many people know there are other people, and may think that there are too many people to be sad about one death.
"Who cares when someone's time runs out if a moment is all we are?" Life is short, but being emotionally attached to another after they pass is hard. It feels like they only knew the person for a moment
"Well I do" this person knows how the loss of a loved one feels, and so it is being said that he can't just forget. He cares that something happened to the one he lost.
"The reminders pull the floor from your feet" Suddenly being reminded of a lost one can suddenly bring back the pain from the time they spent with you.
"In the kitchen, one more chair than you need" They are missing the person, and the place where they used to be is empty.
"You're angry, and you should be. It's not fair" The life of a loved one was lost, and one can be angry that they passed before they could have.
"Just 'cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there" Loved ones memories are always there. You can miss the person, but the memories never leave. -

this song is a clearly about suicide and it is really sad that chester felt that suicide was his only way out. he was my hero as a kid he made me feel that i was not the only one who had a terrible life. as a kid i was severely bullied in school and verbally abused. i will always honor cheseter as my hero.

I know people have said this but this was chesters effing cry for help. This song drove me to tears and it amazes me how many people dont realize this was his silent plea for help.

I think the song is about how Chester is suffering and no one is really listening to him, and this song was his last plea for people to really truly understand what he was going through or trying to say.
if you truly listen to the lyrics you can understand what he is trying to say I guess. -
I don't have much to contribute. I just watched the music video and am in tears. I miss Chester. I think we all should have tried to listen to what he was trying to say. I feel like we all ignored the signs until he committed suicide. This song was his final plea for help. I hope he knows we miss him and hope he is in a better place. One can save millions but millions cant save one.
