Linkin Park: What I've Done Meaning
Song Released: 2007
What I've Done Lyrics
There’s no blood,
There’s no alibi.
‘Cause I’ve drawn regret,
From the truth,
Of a thousand lies.
So let mercy come,
And wash away…
What I’ve Done.
I’ll face myself,
To cross out what I’ve become.
Erase...

Although I agree with what people have to say about the song and how it goes along with the video, I also think it has another meaning.
I believe another part of the song is just about the band itself. For instance, when Chester says "Put to rest
What you Thought of Me"; I believe he is talking about the band and the direction in way. The thing with Linkin Park is, their lyrics are general and they are aimed at a large audience. That's the beauty of their songs (to me). -
OK dude with the five star rating, "What I've done" is not about the neglect of society, It's about how no matter what happens in the world, The bad can always be taken back and you can start over, recreate, or forgive. Now your take on this would have been fine if you were someone like Al Gore, but let's face it, we're not exactly discussing "Global Warming" or the "inventor" of the internet, so just drop your little liberal speeches on how awful the government is and give a real take on the song. Sincerely me.

OK you guys who are saying the songs not out yet are wrong because it was released last month as a teaser and then the full song was released shortly after. The album may not be out yet but the song is for sure. And all you so called experts can check out the new song on Linkin Park's myspace.

If you base your interpretation on the video then it can be taken as being about what mankind has done to the world, the enviornment, and our own humanity, and the guilt and shame that stems from that. I also think it has a more universal meaning though...it can easily be about someone who has hurt the person they care about most and has been blaming/hating themself over it, then finally comes to terms, accepts their own mistakes for what they are, and is ready now to move on. And yeah the album isn't out yet but that doesn't mean the song hasn't been released.
-
It's a song about mankind's inhumanity to man, hence What I've Done.
