Habit Lyrics

I always said that I'd mess up eventually
I told you that, so what did you expect from me?
It shouldn't come as no surprise anymore
I know you said that you'd give me another chance
But you and I knew the truth of it in advance
That...

[I always said that I'd mess up eventually
I told you that, so what did you expect from me?
It shouldn't come as no surprise anymore
I know you said that you'd give me another chance
But you and I knew the truth of it in advance
That mentally, you were already out the door.]

The first verse refers to Harry, and the management overall. Modest! made Louis hide his sexuality from the world, trying to keep the image of a perfect 'straight' boy band, because they wanted their fanbase (which is over 80% female) to think they had a chance with at least one of the boys. In mid 2013 Larry stopped being as close as they used to be, and many of the fans suspect that they were in a relationship, causing the management to force them apart. In my opinion, I think that Modest! thought that Larry were giving too many hints, and the eagle-eyed fans caught right onto it. I think this is what Louis means by 'messing up'.
Larry were probably given a few chances in the beginning, which I think is the meaning of the second verse. It can also refer to Harry, idk, believe what you will believe.
The last verse, and the ending of the stanza, refers to the fact that this was very emotionally and mentally harming to both Harry and Louis.

[Never thought that giving up would be this hard
God, I'm missing you and your addictive heart.]

Sorry, but this just screams Harry Styles to me.

    [You're the habit that I can't break
    You're the feeling I can't put down
    You're the shiver that I can't shake
    You're the habit that I can't break
You're the high that I need right now
    You're the habit that I can't break.]

This stanza can refer to One Direction as a whole, but sorry it still screams Larry to me.

[I took some time 'cause I've ran out of energy
Of playing someone I heard I'm supposed to be
But honestly, I don't have to choose anymore.]

This is honestly the most heartbreaking stanza to me. It again implies to the fact that Louis is tired of being someone he isn't. Louis is perfect the way he is, and about being gay, it's the freaking 21st century, people! No one cares about your sexuality anymore! You can be whoever the f*ck you want and love whoever the f*ck you want! Louis is right that he doesn't have to choose anymore, and I'm honestly so proud of him.

[And it's been ages, different stages
Come so far from Princess Park
    I'll always need ya
In front of me, in front of me.]

This is the most obvious Larry reference in the entire song. 'Princess Park' refers to when Larry lived together.

[You gave me the time and the space
I was out of control, and I'm sorry I let you down.
Guess that I know what I already knew
I was better with you and I miss you now.]

This in my opinion, refers to Larry's relationship. This song shows how much Louis has grown in the past few years

The song refers to beautiful Harry. The eyes never lie. You are the love of his life. There is a sadness behind his eyes without you. You only get one Life so spend it with true love. You are the most beautiful couple and are breaking a millions hearts because you are not together.
Be true to who you are. You both belong with each other as in my 6 decades I have never seen the love you both ooze when near each other. Breathtaking. Love to you both please be happy as life is so short.

2023 still think it's a larry song. The first line I think he's referring to messing up by sleeping with someone else ( having a baby...not that f is a mistake)he just knew he'd screwed up.The rest of song screams about a relationship & it screams larry

I think this song is self-explanatory.. the line that states, "Come so far from PRINCESS PARK" is a reference to when Harry and Louis were in Princess Park living together. idk how antis still exist after this coming out! ( P.S. Eleanor and Louis never lived in that place, together.) If this song isnt about Larry, then tell me what isnt!!!

As much as I want this song to be about Larry, I don't think it necessarily is. I understand what everyone means, but even the 'Princess Park' line could mean he's come so far from where he lived with all the boys. I know he shared a flat with Harry or whatever but didn't they all live there? Just my opinion but I believe it to be about One Direction. 'I know you said that you'd give me another chance
But you and I knew the truth in advance
That mentally, you were already out the door' could definitely be about Larry but I still think 1D. He never wanted to go on a break so they tried but he knew that it was going to happen and that it was already basically decided. 'You gave me time and the space
I was out of control, and I'm sorry I let you down
Guess that I know what I already knew
I was better with you and I miss you now' could refer to how he he needed the space and he got it but now he realises he was better with the boys.
    Just my opinion but yeah.

    {You're the habit that I can't break}
to me this line is about harry, i belive that they've broken up over the years but they always come back together.

{I took some time 'cause I've ran out of energy
Of playing someone I heard I'm supposed to be
    But honestly, I don't have to choose anymore.}
this is so loud his literally telling us how he isnt allowed to be himself its so sad

    {Come so far from Princess Park}
COME ON even the antis cant explain this. Princess park is where harry and louis used to live together. Louis knew that we would make this connection so if he didnt want us to assume it was about harry he could have easily left it out but he didn!!

guys, he’s obviously referring to harry. don’t even try to find an excuse please this is so obvious. there’s so much sentences that prove this point: “come so far from princess park”(this is the place h&l used to live),”of playing someone I heard I'm supposed to be”(referring at the fact that he wasn’t allowed to show his sexuality),”i'm missing you and your addictive heart”(it can’t be about one direction because when he says ‘addictive heart’ he obviously talk about love).

I am a Larry and I get the that this could scream LARRY-But I also think it could be about One Direction. Hear me out-its well known that Louis didn't want 1D to break up. So maybe that's why he says that you said you would give me another chance, but mentally you were already out the door. Because they wanted to take a break and he didn't...and Louis has said that he never expected the break to be as hard on him as it was. I think the Princess Park reference is because that's where the entire band lived in the beginning...I think maybe this song is about Louis missing 1D and his friends, I mean he did pretty much grow up in that band with those people. I DO think that Louis and Harry were in love, but not everything has to be about Larry, even if I really REALLY want it to be...

bro this is such a larry song. “ your the habit i cant break” “come so far from princess park” “i ran out of energy of playing someone i heard im supposed to be”
i mean like - we all know how sh*tty their management label was towards them and how sh*tty s*mon was to them all as a band and louis has shown us through his songs. so if larry was even real ( it might not be) but like fr imagine how they probably treated a same sex couple - i mean this song could be for the fans like it would make sense but this does too. sorry antis <3.

    habit
he could be talkin about the fans and how they mean so much to him and how he knew eventually he would do something wrong and that he knew they expected that and he didnt want them to give up on him and he misses that fandom (one direction) and their love for him and being w the boys.
he ran out of energy of being told who to be and how to act by simon and managment and he had to get away and had to leave and spend time to himself bc he didn’t remember himself as himself and he doesnt have to choose between his management or his own happiness anymore - he can be himself ( come so far from princess park )
and hes sorry he broke his promise of being away from them for so long “you gave me the time and the space, i was out of control and im sorry i let you down”
“ but i was better w you, and i miss you now” now hes had that much needed time to himself he can return to that love and the fans that waited for him and we are the ‘habit he cant break’.

Isn‘t rather Eleanor Louis habit ?
Because idk But I dont really see this song as a larry song like all of you...
The Princess Park could just mean je came so far from where he started...First lived without parents (‚for the music‘) , his career....and also the start...he broke up with Eleanor then came back together and so on yk, could also just mean that he tried but it just didnt work...but I think just like you that there could be some Larry-things like this part where he got tired of be not himself.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I love Larry as porbably all of you and I wish that it is real, BUUUT idk why all of you are so sure that this song is about Harry.
I mean he had a on-off relationship with Eleanor, which would explain the first sentences and then...to the Princess Park thing...it was his first house at the beginning of his career, its like the place of birth of his music and him as a singer. He could also mean that it was a long way from where he started...Yk I dont want to offend you in any way but I think that there are maanyyyy louder songs and this song is rather about Eleanor..

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
