Lovejoy: Concrete Meaning
Concrete Lyrics
If the words that we spoke enough
'Cause the pubs are empty and they're closing up
He's spitting spite as fast as saliva
But with the prose of a standard English drunk, she says
"I hope that saltwater ruins...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:A song about a drunken confrontation in a comical setting where the ex is the one that left, but cannot get over the narrator getting over her. She insults him in all of the aggressive parts, and is threatened to be kicked out. Shes completely inebriated and continues to yell and make a scene at the narrator. Maybe it was instigated by the narrator showing up at her favorite bar, "i'm still here, I'm not leaving."
Alternatively the narrator could be a boyfriend who kissed another girl and regrets it. following her around trying to make it right, but shes having none of it and tells him "if i had it my way you'd sleep on the concrete floor." making a scene in public -
I believe this song is about two ex-partners, with the singer having been over their ex for a while, but the opposite having not gotten over them. the singer gets into another relationship which sparks an argument in an assumed club (hence the lyric "The bouncer's put you on his third warning") about the singers new relationship (hence "All this over a kiss?") This eventually leads to the singer's ex being kicked out or some punishment.

My own theory or interpretation is about a girl and his now ex, the guy gets into a bar or club and got drunk and started making out with another girl but the girlfriends friend catched the guy and told the girlfriend and she was furious, she confronted the boyfriend henceing the lyric "I hope the saltwater ruins your clothes (probably talking about the tears or something)and i hope you spend the rest of life sleeping alone(hoping the guy will regret what he did and she hoped that she will be alone forever)i hope the problems that make your life harder, sit stubborn in your stomach like your kidney stones" the girl was PISSED for his boyfriend kissing another girl but the guy was not having any of it and henceing the sentence "All this, over a kiss? you weren't there, why are you pressed by this?" The girl started making a scene coming to the lyrics "the bouncers put you on his third warning" signalling that the bouncers was also pissed about the girl making a scene.
The fight got really bad getting us into the lyric "if i had it my way, you'd sleep on the concrete floor" Then the bouncers got really really pissed for the girl making a scene and tried to kick her out henceing the lyric "I'm still here and im not leaving" but she ended up getting kicked out. -
this is a longshotbut i think this is a song where a boy and a girl are in a relationship, The boy decides to go out for a drink with his friends. They take the drinks home and play party games , Random games untill they decided to play a game like seven minutes in heaven or spin the bottle. another girl gets picked and someone Records them making out with each other. they send it to the girl and she's PISSED . She calls the guy and basically screams at him hence the lyrics. "I hope the saltwater ruins your clothes and i hope you spend the rest of life sleeping alone i hope the problems that make your life harder, sit stubborn in your stomatch like your kidney stones" he replys screaming back "All this, over a kiss? you werent there, why are you pressed by this?" She gets pissed off and takes the bus to the girls house to fight with her and the boy. hence the lyrics "So pissed off march up to the bus station with pissed off eyes glazed with early conversaions" they fight with eachother when she gets here and the boy breaks up with her hence the lyrics "You wont get what you need, you know its all just the same its all just a game if i had it my way id sleep on the concrete" he leaves the party early and goes to a bar to drink his feelings away which is the last part of the song

i think this song is about a girl who goes “crazy” when she finds out her ex/ the guy she likes kissed another girl/is with someone else (all this over a kiss. you weren’t there so why are you pressed by this?). i think that the singer is supposed to be accurately representing what happened but i think it’s also possible that it’s supposed to be like a guy being like “omg my ex is sooooo crazy” and she’s literally just normally upset over something reasonable idk.
