Portrait Of A Blank Slate Lyrics

He told me that much and now he's dead
Taught me to kill my indulgences with a sharp blow to the temple
Pick up the phone call and do everything he says
I could take a plastic camera
We could make such a pretty picture
Oh, so happy, oh, oh,...

The line about the camera i believe means that in the photo you may pose to be happy and force a smile but in reality you aren’t. “I’m always searching the silent type” I think means the singer is looking for someone as a significant other that is a quiet person. “How do you all make it look so easy you open your hearts up so quickly it scares me” I think this line means the singer has a difficult time opening up to the world around him, and is surprised when people are able to do it themselves with no effort. “Goes to parties acts like hotel guests” acting like the guest of a hotel at a party often is seen as rude. “I’ve got a boring name” I think the singer Wilbur soot has explained in the past how he got his name now, and that he’s not a big fan of it. “Breaks you down just to act as the architect” I think this line means whoever is dating Wilbur’s formal partner is not testing them very well, and in putting them down just to build them back up fooling them into thinking he’s helping them. “Another hypoglycemic reaction” hypoglycemia is when blood sugars are lower than the standard range. So I think the singer is explaining a sudden energetic change in reaction here.
