Maroon 5: This Love Meaning
Song Released: 2004
This Love Lyrics
The fire burning in her eyes
The chaos that controlled my mind
Whispered goodbye and she got on a plane
Never to return again
But always in my heart
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think this some means that she keeps breaking up with him and they always end up getting back together, but eventually he can't do it anymore and he knows it's breaking her heart, but he has to end the relationship because he can't do the goodbye thing anymore. And yes it's about sex...basically all maroon 5 songs are about sex.

#2 top rated interpretation:It’s about a relationship with a narcissist! The one got sick of the emotional rollercoaster and went ‘No Contact’!

#3 top rated interpretation:I think this is about how he was having sex with a girl. I'm thinking it was maybe his girlfriend. She was using him just for the sex. Being the wuss that he is, he felt used and that just sex wasn't enough since whateve love making they had wasn't really love. It was just sex. This "love" is starting to take a toll on him, because he really loves her and he wants her to show her true affections. The bridge where he says "I'll fix these broken wings" uhm I think it's about how she goes to him whenever she's sad and whatever and they end up having sex.
Yeah, so I think this song is just about sex. :) -
I read the lyrics as a man in love with two women.. the first broke his heart over and over with indecision. He is doing his best not to carry this baggage into the second. He is making account to the clarity and need for change so this second chance will prosper.

They both have broken hearts, they both are sad, perhaps this is love that cannot hold up to the constraints of life... I have lived this song. I still love the man, he still loves me, the sex was initially what brought us together but the love is what keeps our heart linked. For different reasons neither of us can change the obstacles that keep us apart. The sex is still great 21 years later. But the obstacles are even greater. Yes, I keep saying goodbye, I keep trying to find my way without him, instead I keep finding my way back to him.But the obstacles, are just too great

He was oblivious to what was really going on inside his girlfriend's head. He was trying and feeding her appetite for sex, but she eventually left him. She got on a plane and left for a while. They try again, but it's a vicious cycle that doesn't end. She never loved him as much as he loved her. She was just good at faking it maybe? It starts to take a toll on him, but he still feels like he can fix her and make sure everything is ok. He knows all she wants is sex. Eventually, he decides he won't say goodbye anymore, because they won't get back together again, but since they always get back together, it's unclear if he can even stay away from her.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think it's about a man that lost his girlfriend because of this drug addiction. He is so addicted and out of it that he does not realize his girlfriend has had it for the last time. She has threatened to leave him in the past if he did not stop doing the drugs. He took her for granted and now it's too late to get her back.
Anyone agree with that. -
It's about a man trying everything to keep his girlfriend satisfied but she takes him for granted. They are breaking up, she is leaving him and his hart is hurt and does not know what to say to her.

I think that in this song a man has a girlfriend who is using him. I think he really does love her but knows she only wants him for....um..... making sexual contact? Anyway, he knows that's all she's after, and he takes what he can get. But after awhile I think that he tries to get her to say what she feels.
-
This song is about sex but also a love lading into a sort of depression and the only thing that love is to the other person is sex.
-
I think this song has more to do with a struggling relationship, where the man has been taken for granted, and chooses to end it, at which point the womans inner feelings are revealed but it's too late.

hehe.. Ya know. I think you may be on to something there..
At least, for me it means that, and thus got associated with a similar situation in my real life..
