This song speaks to me in my current situation. For me this song is about a couple who lobe eachother but cannot be together. They agree over and over again to be only friends knowing that they want much more and the back and forth is deteriorating their relationship.
"She repeats let's be friends. I smile and say yes, another truth bent, I must confess. We lied to eachother again".

this song is about two lovers who lie to each other constantly. so they no longer love each other from lack of trust. as seen in the chorus
"my body aches from mistakes, betrayed by lust, we lied to each other so much that in nothing we trust."
it also shows how the couple decide to break up and Dave doesn't want them to, but lies and says "yes". as seen
"time and again, she repeats 'let's be friends. I smile and say yes, another truth bends i must confess. i try to let go, but i know it'll never end till we're dust"
