Last Rites...Loved to Death Lyrics

Your body's empty now
As I hold you
Now you're gone I miss you
But I told you
I remember bad times
More than good
There's no coming back
Even if we could
I loved you to deth
If I can't have you
Than no one will
And since I won't
I'll...

Guy kills woman who has left him, his "first love", dies, then meets her terrified spirit in Hell.

"And now you’re coming back, 'baby, take me please'
I really think I would if you weren’t such a sleaze
I loved you once before, you kept me on a string
I’d rather go without than take what you would bring"

This verse means he'd "never in hell" take her back.

This song is the old story of "if i can't have you nobody can". it's about how he killed a girl and keeps her hidden so he can have her for him and only him.

I belief the woman in the song is Diane. He has written a lot of songs about her, I think I heard somewhere that even that "The hardest part of letting go... sealed with a kiss" was about Diane. Then, Wake up Dead is also about her (he explicitly says her name in that one) so that leads me to believe this one was also about her.

In this song Dave writes about how he loves a woman but cannot have her. In the time before he wrote the song he was so infatuated with her that he came to the point of anger and wrote the song to vent. All in all, the lyrics are fairly defining but you have to read up on your DETH to get it.
