Metric: Patriarch on a Vespa Meaning
Patriarch on a Vespa Lyrics
Her mouth is full of questions
Are we all brides to be
Are we all designed to be confined
Buy ourselves chastity belts and lock them
Organize our lives and lose the key
Our faces all resemble dying roses
From...

Promiscuous (Promiscuity, in human sexual behavior, is the practice of casual sex with multiple sexual partners.)
makes an entrance.
Her mouth is full of questions,
Are we all brides to be?
Are we all designed to be confined? = A female is questioning the place that society has told her she belongs in, and in doing so she realizes that we can't really escape that fate.
By ourselves = In trying to escape from the aforementioned fate, she then discovers caring so much about the place she's been put in is draining her and decides it's in herself where the problem lies.
chastity belts and lock them = Now, instead of being promiscuous, she tries celebacy.
Organize our lives and lose the key = In doing so, she feels "organized".
Our faces all resemble dying roses
From trying to fix it = She has gotten old and tired from trying to break the chain, so to speak.
When instead we should break it
We've got to break it before it breaks us = She then thinks "Maybe instead of fixing and covering up the place society wants us in, we should just break through that barrier.
Fear of pretty houses and their porches = A fear of being inadequate; ex. Not having a beautiful home.
Fear of biological wristwatches = A fear of not having children at a certain age. "biological wristwatches" I think is like a biological clock, time is running out for marriage and motherhood.
Fear of comparison shopping = A fear of not being able to afford the brand name things.
Dogs on leashes behind fences barking = Describes us, the citizens being ignored and put behind our own barriers to fight amongst ourselves.
Pretty little pillows on floral couches = Finally being able to afford that beautiful home and then decorating it to be appealing to the public.
Until our faces all resemble dying roses
Stop trying to fix it = She then realizes she spent so much time fighting the system and trying to "fix it" that she doesn't want anyone else to try and find it.
Patriarch on a Vespa
Runs a red and ends up
Crushed under the wheel = I think this is a metaphor that means a Patriarch (Someone high up in government, say, the president.) Runs a red (Breaks his/her own rules to "get there" faster. and ends up crushed under the wheel (The Wheel being the American/World public who then realize the woman trying to fix it was right, and they take down the patriarch and eventually, the hurtful society he/she presided over.
