Muse: City of Delusion Meaning
City of Delusion Lyrics
Build a fortress
And shield your beliefs
Touch the divine
As we fall in the ravine
Can I believe
When I don't trust
All your theories
Turn to dust
I choose to hide
From the all seeing eye
Destroy this City of...

If you watch their insanely high budget music video, this song explains yet another one of Bellamy's interests in conspiracy theories. This song is literal and is about hmans overcoming widespread influence od robot humanoids under the guise of irdinary citizens, operating in modern day society or the city as shown in the video on youtube. In the video a manufacturing plant assembles different models of remotely controlled robot humans who can acheive anything through the will of their owner, who is virtually controllinf their actions at home in a neuro link machine and they get fat. This song tells a fantasy. Eventually, military grade hellicopters fly in the city and begin a full force assualt on these "humans". The ending scene shows a normal citizen shotgun armed and loaded pointing it at one of the robots after its internal bits and hardware have been damaged and revealed. This song is very rarely performed live and appears in their black holes and revelations album. This is the lyrical interpration of this song based on the screen play of the music video. What do you think? Submit your own interpretation. This is based off a highbudget fan made video. It can also be about a war invasion. Regardless, of the meaning, City of Delusion is one hell of a rock song that needs to be performed more often on their tours.
