When listening to Muse, my favorite band of all time, I always sense a trace of love in the reasoning of the song. Even Assassin had the mark! It is just the way Matthew thinks, I guess. Reminds me of Mr.Brightside.... Great artists think alike.... Take that home with you.

When two neutron stars collide, they are permanantly merged together. Unable to break, split, or crack. They're trying to say that their hearts were merged together(like a neutron star collision), never to be split. Resembling their love, and how it will never be broken.
