This is basically the second principle of thermodynamics.
Entropy can be interpreted in many ways. It can be a measurement of chaos vs. order, it gives the direction of a spontaneous reaction, but it is also a measure of how energy can be used.
Any reaction in thermodynamics (say burning of fuel) always goes towards the same direction, increase of entropy (low entropy, liquid fuel, high entropy, burned fuel). You can extract entropy from a system but only to put it elsewhere, and you would create additional entropy doing it. This is what it means. The entropy of an isolated system can only increase. If we consider the universe an isolated system, then we are in a linear timeline only increasing our entropy until there is no energy left to use.

Its all about politics compared to the laws of entropy in physics. The song pretty much explains the basics of entropy with the female robot voice. Its matts view on how world trends are all due to the universal laws and applications of thermodynamics, entropy. Unusustainable explains this better, This song is in the album The 2nd Law, as in the 2nd law of thermodynamics which matt admitted to studying in highschool. Words of Matt Bellamy
