My Chemical Romance: The Ghost of You Meaning
Song Released: 2005
The Ghost of You Lyrics
If I died we'd be together now
I can't always just forget her
But she could try
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home
Never coming home
Could I?
Should I?
And...

It is also about him grandmother elena. He sings about her in the song helena

This song is really deep if you think about it. I don't think he meant war exactly. I think it was just an example they used. But this song is obviously about loosing someone and knowing your never gonna see them again or hear them or see them smile. And it makes me think that maybe his intent when writing this was to say you never "let the sun set with you in a provoked state". Like, tell the people you love that you love them and apologize for where you've wronged them. Make your peace. And love the ones you love while you still have them because you never know when you wont.
-
I'm loving this song and I'd like to get my opinion out there. I think this song is about a guy who realized war kills people you love and he's saying that once your dead at war you're never coming home but he'll try to stay strong... I not sure that's what MCR meant my this but that's what I get from it... I love this song it makes me cry...
-
I think this is a song about the moment of realization that you will never be able to see this person again, never be able to see the smile or listen to their secrets and how much that hurts. To tie it into the concept of the album, you could also say that it was from the point of view of the man and he misses his wife and feels like he will never see her again (because he is dead).
-
It's about the fear of losing someone. As Gerard Way said so himself in the making of ghost of you.
He also quoted about how stereotypical it would be if they made a video of a haunted houses and ghosts so they did something unpredictable and no one expected it. -
This song is one of MCR's most emotional songs. I think it's about loving someone until the very end under any circumstances and I think the video backs this up.
-
To me, this song has nothing to do with death. It makes me feel like there's someone that he loves, but he's never noticed by them. So it feels like they're dead to him. Just my opinion though.
-
I reckon the song is just about losing someone you love. Gerard describes this by war, and his little brother Mikey being shot dead. He also describes the pain it causes, and that you can't forget about it, it just sticks in your head making it worse.
-
This song is about losing someone and being haunted by the fact that you didn't spend enough time with someone that you love."All the things that you never ever told me. And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me." Maybe this means someone he lost died young and he didn't see him alot.its just a guess. I don't know if that's really what it's about.
-
this song is about someone afraid of losing someone.
-
I think that this song isn't really about war, though that is what the video is about. It's about losing someone and realizing that you're never going to see them or hear their voice again. I also think that it is about whether or not you are going to commit suicide "could I, should I" because of the pain of losing the person.
-
She`s right.
War represents death.
I doubt it`s about his grandmother.
He wouldn`t want to keep bringing it up.
I think it`s like how everyone`s like omg gerard lost his grandmother! But she was mikey`s grandmother aswell.
I think he just wants everyone to know that it`s hard on mikey aswell as anyone to deal with death. -
Omfg.... Whoever said it was about a war, they're dumb, don't listen to them, they'll rape you
the war is representing death
once you die you never come back
so there you have it -
I think it is about how he goes off to war and he is married or in love and he is scared that he is going to die and never gonna see her again and he has been wounded and he is dying and he will never see her again and she has cheated on him and they are the lies and the ghost that will never catch him is enemy in war he was fighting they will nevver catch him
