Personally I believe that its his younger, happier version of himself talking to current version. I like to think of it as looking in the mirror as a current version of himself and seeing this other person he used to be. the person he used to be is looking at him and trying to set them both free. The person he used to be trying to understand why they are still stuck in the same place. Just a thought.
