   This is about Nf growing up and feeling alone. The friend he was talking about was a Notebook. He wrote his thoughts in the notebook basically like venting to a best friend. He was thanking his notebook for being there in his hard times.

   This is probably going to sound dumb but the first time I heard it I felt or thought that he might be referring to Eminem. Like maybe he was listening to his music while going through some hard times earlier in his life. I've only recently started listening to NF,little over a year now, but I can relate to so much of his pain it blows my mind sometimes.

   I think this song isn't about a notepad at all, more so talking about a person acting like one. He is most likely talking about his friend Tommee Profit who he is close with and makes his music with.

   While listening to this song my mind immediately interpreted him addressing another rapper who he grew up and went through a lot with during bad times. But now that I've looked into it more, he's addressing the Notepad as if it were a person.
   
   Why else would the song be titled Notepad?
