The song is trying to show us that it doesn’t matter what people think. If we have a big dream/goal we should do whatever it takes to achieve that. We will face rejection time and time again but it's what we choose to do about it and how we use that, that will determine whether we succeed or not. The first four lyrics are what start this off as a rejection story but getting back on your feet. He says that he wants to be a rapper and is insecure about it because he feels people won't approve. People end up not approving and he says that “he’ll be good eventually” and believes in himself.

This is about how he thought that he would never make it to the big stage, and that he wouldn’t be the AWESOME person he is now. It also describes the hardships he had to struggle through to make it here and that his hope was to be a rapper.
He made it! -
This song addresses the struggle it was to be heard and respected for what he knew he wanted to be, he just had to believe that he could do it. Nobody else's opinion mattered, just so long as he knew what he wanted to be and worked hard to reach the top.
