There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet Lyrics

Please, leave all overcoats, canes and top hats with the doorman.
From that moment you'll be out of place and underdressed.
I'm wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it.
Ruining this banquet for the mildly inspiring...

this song talks about how at some sort of galla or ball (party) this narrator steps into the room to see his ex-gf or wife and she sees how confident and happy he is at that time so she steps into the bathroom only to realize that she is no longer "top dog" as some might say and the lyrics "You'll be distracted when i spike the punch" sort of depict a story about murder in a way. He will act confident and plain happy in order to distract her of what may happen... murder.... as in the song title "There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet", it implying that she will be sitting in a specific seat (numbered tables) and how he is going to cause her death by poisining (reason that you haven't thought of yet)

It started out with rich people but the girl isn't rich. She was invited to a party and a boy she used to bully was there back when she was popular and spiteful. He's confident and beautiful but he used to be the kid everyone picked on. He plans to get back at them *hint* "and the cigarettes happen to be laced with nitroglycerin." she doesn't like that the table have turned and everyone she ever knew is rich and better off. She so surprised and sad. He's taking all her happy and carefree life style like cancer. He then make the big move at the end.

I think the main character in the story (Probably a man) goes to this place where he is the centre of attention. And his ex-girlfriend is there too. When she seee's him he's ruining the evening "I'm wrecking this evening already and, loving every minute of it"
"I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it."
Means he'll wreck her life and he's doing it on purpose and she can't stand it. "Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"" Is pretty much what is says, and it implies he used to be quite shy.
"Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears.
And keep telling yourself that 'I'm a diva!'
Oh and the smokes in that cigarette box on the table,
they just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin."
He's stressing her out and when she gets stressed she smokes, but she decides not to in this case.
"And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch." Means, that no-one is making assumptions about her because their attention is on him. And he's being sneaky and planned the night well so there is something on to distract her when he spikes the punch.

I'm the new cancer is obviously talking about how cancer seems to be spreading rapidly. He's the new cancer = he's suddenly all the rage.
Well, that's what I've always assumed... Or thinking about it, smoking gives you cancer, cancer kills you... She smokes, he sabotages the cigarettes, she dies...

Hm... This has got me thinking...

I really relate to this song in how to I interpret it:
Basically, the "you" he refers to is his ex that dumped him. They had a good relationship until she basically ruined him by either humiliating him or breaking his heart publicly. She didn't realize that what she did was a mistake.
The guy's heart she ruined turns into something that is cleverly malicious and he does everything to ruin her night. (For me, more of a prom than a proper banquet because I'm younger) He tells the most gossip-spreading people rumors about her and instead of ruining her night, it starts to ruin her life. Amidst this, she realizes she still loves him but will never be with him again because of how maliciously handsome he's become. He's now the life of the party and to everyone else she "looks like shhh". Which is why she has to tell herself that "I'm a diva."
I've been this cancer before. Its a surprisingly sweet revenge. Especially when you are dressed to impressed and everyone notices how great you look. "Everything goes according to plan."

Random person says:"This song is about casually crashing a formal banquet by poisoning the cigarettes, (they happened to be laced with nitroglycerin) insulting people, and acting weird.

"I'm the new cancer" means that he is going around and slowly ruining the party."

M says:Exactly...To me he sounds like the joker(NO! NOT HEATH LEDGER!! JACK NICHOLSON!!)
Oh and the ciggies have nitroglycerin in them AKA dynamite. Not poison..Tic..Tic..Tic..*Lights up* BOOM! like bugs bunny cartoons

My interpretation of this song is there is a party, and along with that party is the 'In Crowd' and a 'Queen-B'. This song is a story which is talking about a male "When you're in black slacks with accentuating, off-white, pinstripes..." Kinda tipped me off about that. So this male character comes into this party and his goal is to crash it and destroy the Queen-B

The Queen-B somehow knows the male character, maybe an ex-boyfriend or someone she turned down or he turned her down.
"I bet to them your name is "Cheap", I bet to them you look like shh...
Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears.
And keep telling yourself that "I'm a diva!""
This kinda gives me a hint that maybe the male character called her ugly and/or a whore...

"Oh and the smokes in that cigarette box on the table,
they just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin."
He laced the smokes with nitroglycerin. And if many of you don't know, nitroglycerin is used to make explosives but its also used medically.

"Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it"
Means in my opinion he's the newest thing on the block stealing the attention. But the Queen-B can't stand to see him.

And lastly..."And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch."
I think this means the Queen-B isn't getting the attention she always gets, she probably has people saying how good or beautiful she looks. And since she's so worked up about no one paying attention to her, she won't see the final blow by the male charater...just like he had planned

"Whoa, everything goes according to plan."

I think in the part where he sings "I'm the new cancer", it means that he's the new thing everybody's talking about, and his name is on everybody's lips.

Yeah its really hard to write what you really think.

    Over and out,

This song is all about a guy who was shut down by a girl cause of his social status. and then somehow he became the "shit" and now he purposely invites this girl to a high class social event in order to blow up her spot "cigarettes laced with nitroglycerin" and show her she is garbage"bet you can't keep up with these fashionistas" "tonight you are a whispering campaign" every one talks about how the girl doesn't fit in this party, so she goes to the bathroom feeling like shit and to try and reassure herself" the reason the tables are numbered is the fact that he purposely set this up as revenge.

This song is about a popular girl who is in a high social level clique and her ex-boyfriend comes to a fancy party of some sort and steals her limelight. The "cancer" in the song means that he's the deadliest thing around and everyone is drawn to him. When people start talking about the girl behind her back she goes into the bathroom to cheer herself up "talk to the mirror oh choke back tears and keep telling yourself that 'I'm a diva'". But all her ex-boyfriend is trying to do is crash the party (spiking drinks, nitroglycerin, etc.)

Okay, everyone, I found myself bashing my head on the desk saying this over and over while reading these, so her it goes.

Nitroglycerin isn't a poison, its an explosive.
Nitroglycerin isn't a poison, its an explosive.
Nitroglycerin isn't a poison, its an explosive.
Nitroglycerin isn't a poison, its an explosive.
Nitroglycerin isn't a poison, its an explosive.
I would not poison you, it would blow up when you lit it.
    EXPLOSIVE.

ANYWAY, the song seems to me as if some guy crashed a fancy ball, and is no reeking havoc on the partygoers. It struck me as him pulling a bunch of juvenile stunts on rich people. I feel he impersonated a doorman to take the expensive outerwear form a few entering guests, so when they walked into the main room they would look horribly under-dressed for the party. He also seems to be spending time spiking punch, leaving explosive (not poisoned) cigarettes around, and giving some girl (the hostess?) a horrible time.

It's likely some guy who just wants to mess with some upper class snobs. It also seems he's never done anything like this before, as he's "never been so surreptitious," and is clearly getting noticed for it, maybe the people there know him. (When did he get all confident?)

Also, the much-debated 'I'm the new cancer' line, I think I heard a great explanation somewhere, He's referring to something infectious that won't go away, whether you want it to or not.

Basically, it sounds a lot more like he's making fun of his ex. He's saying how she's missing out on everything and he's everywhere and she can't seem to get rid of them out of her head. So, saying, "I'm the new cancer and you can't stand it," he's saying, "I'm everywhere, you can't get rid of me, and you can't stand it." Sounds more like he's laughing at his ex.

What I think it means is that there is a party, and there is a girl who was invited who nobody likes, they just invited her to embarrass her. The dude in black slacks is going around ruining the party. Back to the girl, she's in the bathroom, choking back her tears and keeps on telling herself "I'm a diva." The girl has no friends and is depressed. That's what I think, if I'm wrong plz tell me what this means!

I think that it is about revenge and it makes a lot of sense 'Im the new 'cancer' I've never looked better and you can't stand it' 'talk to the mirror choke back tears and keep telling yourself IM a DIVA" "and I know and I know it just dosnt feel like a night out with no one sizing you up! iv never been so surreptitious so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch!"
